It's a Car Duster!

WOW--it really works!

 Since my husband likes a clean car and has to wash it or get it washed EVERY week, I just had to get him this car duster for Christmas hoping it actually works.  Living in Parma, a suburb of Cleveland, it gets cold here, too cold to wash the car in the driveway.  Supposedly, this mop brush will attract the dirt and clean it off without water!  I figured if it works, we would save some money by not having to go to the car wash so often.  I found this great little gadget in the Herrington's catalog.  (I checked their online catalog but couldn't find this exact one but did find some similar.)

I am disappointed in my before and after shots because it shows my reflection and is hard to see the car, but hopefully you can see some difference.  I really does work well!  Gerard used in on cold snowy days too, but I just didn't want to go out to get the picture when it was so cold.  This day, the temperature was around 40 degrees.

Screeching Stopped

After about a month of screeching, we took our KIA into the repair shop. Whenever we started it up it would screech but then stop once we got going. It would screech when we turned the steering wheel sometimes too. In half an hour, it was fixed--just something going on with a belt. The best part was meeting a huge German Shepherd named Tank.

Nice Watch

We got a free watch with our Blair order. It's really nice with easy-to-read actual numbers. Too bad is doesn't work but what do you expect for free, right? It was disappointing though because that was really the only reason we placed an order. Although the velour shirts are very nice.

Stop the Stink

This is the funniest commercial I've seen in a long time. It was at the beginning of a Just For Laughs video but when I went to embed it, there was a different commercial so I looked it up on YouTube and here it is for your laugh of the day.

Happiest Story of The Week

Lady and her cat got reunited after 5 years thanks to a microchip in the cat. We have one in Abby but not in our cats since they stay indoors.

Joint Juice

I just found a Glucosamine-Chondroitin supplement drink with vitamin D3 that I like. Find out more at jointjuice.com. Unfortunately, Giant Eagle is discontinuing it.

Picasa

Anyone know how to delete pics from a picasa album. It seems every picture I ever uploaded to my blogs is automatically in there. I just recently discovered that I can reuse pics from there so I have many duplicates.

Community Dinner

I'm looking forward to helping with our church's community dinner this coming Thursday. I'm taking the whole day off since it's the same day as my bone density test. This way I can help set up in the morning and help wait on tables or distribute the groceries. We are planning to give a nice bag of groceries to every family who comes that they can take home. The stockpile of donated groceries is coming along nicely.

What They Don't Tell You

They Don't Tell You It Makes A Big Mess!

Of course winters in Ohio have snow and ice and stores stock up with salt and other products to melt the ice. Us being animal lovers, we avoid buying the salt which can be harmful to doggies' paws and buy stuff that is "pet friendly." PetSmart carries little bluegreen bally things that melt the ice and claim to be pet friendly; however, it is pretty expensive. We found a cheaper kind called Anti Skid Ice Melt for Traction and Melting. It says it contains no salt, is environmentally friendly ice melt and pet friendly.

Let me just say this was a very bad choice and we wanted to warn you. It is tiny black specs that do not disappear. It stays on the sidewalk or drive long after the ice has melted and the snow goes away. Not only that, but it sticks to the bottom of boots and shoes so it gets tracked all over inside the house which makes a big mess to clean up!

I hate this stuff and we will never buy it again!  In fact, we are not even finishing the bag we already opened.  It is horrible!  It didn't melt the ice very well either.  We had ice on the sidewalk where we used this until the weather finally warmed up enough to melt it.

We will be buying the bluegreen stuff from PetSmart again. It doesn't work as well as salt does, but at least it doesn't make a big mess in the house!  Now to go try to get it off our porch, steps and sidewalk, oh boy.

Crazy Toothbrush

A few weeks ago, my husband needed a new toothbrush. He had seen a commercial on TV for a vibrating toothbrush and it looked real nice. He thought it was too expensive so got an Oral-B push button kind with an on/off switch. He came home all excited about it with one for me too--there were two in the package. I said I prefer my normal manual one, no thanks.


He liked it at first, but then after a few days, a couple of his teeth started really hurting. He drank a ton of water and that seemed to help for a time. No way did he want to go to the dentist. He started leaving the vibrating off and used it just like a normal brush and guess what. No more pain! Yea! He learned that it's best to go manual. He brushes twice a day, morning and night.
