7 Things I Learned This Week-#85 (Flintstones, money, Furminator, kid tips, museum, zoo)

Anniversary Song and Notes

In comments to our Anniversary post, Sandee left us the anniversary song. She included cute little notes so I asked her how she did that and here's what she sent me: & # 9834 ; Now take out all the spaces and you have a note. I will try it: ♪ Yup, it works!

Thanks to Lin from Duck and Wheel with String, I got to see the Flintstones anniversary song which I never knew existed. Here it is:

Amazon Associates Program

I earned my first money blogging this month from the Amazon Associate program. A whopping 52 cents! If you are looking to purchase a book from Amazon, I'd appreciate it very much if you check out the Amazon ads on our blogs and click through from them if you see something you like. Hey, it's at least something. I don't actually get it yet. It has to reach a certain amount which I don't even remember what it is anymore. Fortunately, I have a job and do not have to rely on making money through blogging!

Furminator Video

I did a customer review on Amazon for the Furminator and added my Furminator video to it. I felt good when I learned it actually helped someone make the decision to buy it:

D. Miller says:

We appreciated your video a lot because it answered a purchasing decision question for us "visually"...and a picture is worth 1,000 words!!! We already knew we wanted to purchase a FURminator for our 2 large dogs (lab/retriever mix) based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews we had read, including yours, but we were still debating on whether or not to get the model with the FURejector. In your video it is clear how easily and effectively this feature "ejects" the fur from the brush - in fact we can even hear a distinct click sound when you press the release button and then see how all the bunched fur is free to drop in the trash. Looks worth it to us so we'll be ordering the exact model you used in your video (same size, too). Thanks for the help with our decision!

Get Kids To Dress Themselves By Making It Easy

Over at I'm An Organizing Junkie if found a smart idea on how to get little kids to dress themselves properly. You just sort outfits putting one set of clothes for each day into a different bag. Mark the "dress up" clothes bag differently somehow. She suggested using a purple ribbon for the Sunday clothes bag.

Creation Museum

Over at One Day At A Time, I saw a post about their visit to a Creation Museum in Kentucky. If this were close to us, we would definitely go! It looks very interesting and fun!

Cleveland Zoo

The elephants will return to the Cleveland zoo next month but won't be on exhibit until May of 2011 to have time to get adjusted to their new exhibit. They have a special website set up that gives updates at www.africanelephantcrossing.com. They are currently in the Columbus zoo waiting for their exhibit to get finished. It's coming along nicely.

The wolves are most active in the morning, the bears are late risers and more active in the afternoon.

The zoo sells "zoo bucks" which is a book of 10 or 12 $1 coupons at a discount which can be used for extra things throughout the zoo such as camel rides, feeding animals, riding the train in the Australian Adventure. One of my co-workers gave me four of hers she didn't use so I fed the Lorikeets and rode the train this.

UPDATED AT 4:45 PM:

BBQ Blog Party

I just learned about a BBQ blog party going on at Coming Down the Mountain this weekend. Be sure to pop in and find some other new blogs. I'm bringing fried chicken and pop. What will you bring? Go on, get over there now.

So THAT'S where the Happy Anniversary song came from. We sang it just last week to my sister and brother in law! Not quite that long and loud, though.

Thanks!

I love the Flintstones! I watched them all the time as a kid!

That's great that your video helped someone decide on a Furminator! Feeding the Lorikeets sounds like fun too!

The flintstones was a super video. Great stuff. Glad your review got a customer for you. Those furminators are great little tools. It is fun when something like that works. I am an affiliate with Amazon and have made a little money too.
Have a great week end.

just browsing around looking at friday fragments - The Flintstones good memories. I love their theme song.

How sad kids wearing bags! I thought that the wearing pajama thing was to be cool. Now I'm wondering if they cant afford better clothes.

Congrats on your 52 cents! Woohoo!

My husband said "Is that the Flintstones?" So he even recognized the song. Too funny.

lisleman is so funny. I had to go reread your post to see if you said the kids wore bags LOL

It's very interesting that it takes 6 months for elephants to get used to their surroundings. It never occurred to me that there was such a delay in when the animals arrive and when they could be seen by the public. Makes sense though.

I once got a paycheck for 52 cents. An actual check. That they mailed to me. It cost them more to print and mail it than it was even worth! I might still have it somewhere since I never bothered cashing it *L*

I didn't know that Amazon did video reviews, I need to investigate further!

The Hogle Zoo in Utah got a new Elephant habitat a few years ago and it's wonderful! I'm glad you're getting your elephants back =)
