The Manual Didn't Mention This!

It was time to set our clocks ahead last Sunday and we did, all except the one in our car because it wouldn't work!  We just got our Ford Escape last May so this was the first we had to deal with it.  I am the person who follows directions so I naturally read my car manual when I bought the car.  When it came time to reset the clock, I looked up in the manual how to do it and it sounded really easy.  This is what it said:
Press "clock" button, "reset time" will show on the display.  Use the radio buttons 0-9 to set the time, then hit "OK."
So, that sounds simple enough.  I looked for the buttons and found them all, hit the "clock" button and nothing happened.  I tried holding it in . . . nothing happened.  I hit it again, harder . . . nothing happened.  I gave up and asked my husband if he would take it somewhere and ask them to fix it.

He took it to the KIA dealer where we bought the car and the girl there reset it very easily.  She turned the radio on first though and then it worked.  That should have been right at the beginning of those instructions!  I should have known that since it used the radio buttons that it was connected to the radio so it would make sense to turn it on.  It just didn't occur to me.  I'll be writing "turn on radio" in the manual just in case we forget next time.

Did you remember to set all your clocks ahead?   Hope you didn't have trouble with any of your clocks like I did!

Thankful Thursday: Pay Attention To The Noise

While driving our Kia

Me:  What is that noise?

Hubby:  What noise?

Me:  That spinning sound when you brake.

Hubby:  I don't hear anything.

Another day when I'm driving:

Me:  You don't hear that?  (noise again when I brake)

Hubby:  No, I don't hear anything.

Me:  We better get the brakes checked--I know this noise isn't normal and something must be wrong.  It will only get worse the longer we wait.

Hubby:  OK, I'll take it up on Wednesday when I'm off, but I don't hear anything.

Wednesday:

Hubby:  (calls me at work)  The guy said our brakes are very bad and it will cost over $500 to fix!

Me:  OK, we have to get them fixed.  (I refrained from saying "told you so.")

I am so thankful for that stupid noise that I heard so we could get them fixed before we got in an accident.  I just wonder why that BRAKE light didn't come on.

Maybe the next thing we'll have to get is a hearing aid for my hubby.  What do you think?

It's a Car Duster!

WOW--it really works!
Since my husband likes a clean car and has to wash it or get it washed EVERY week, I just had to get him this car duster for Christmas hoping it actually works.  Living in Parma, a suburb of Cleveland, it gets cold here, too cold to wash the car in the driveway.  Supposedly, this mop brush will attract the dirt and clean it off without water!  I figured if it works, we would save some money by not having to go to the car wash so often.  I found this great little gadget in the Herrington's catalog.  (I checked their online catalog but couldn't find this exact one but did find some similar.)

I am disappointed in my before and after shots because it shows my reflection and is hard to see the car, but hopefully you can see some difference.  I really does work well!  Gerard used in on cold snowy days too, but I just didn't want to go out to get the picture when it was so cold.  This day, the temperature was around 40 degrees.

Aha, Abby Gave In! I Win After All!

Awhile back I posted a video of Abby's first car ride with us trying to get her to sit in the middle of the two front seats while I drove followed by the video with Gerard in the car too and Abby choosing to stay in the back regardless. Finally, I am now happy to report that when we went to the park two weeks ago, Abby rode most of the way on the floor between the two front seats just like she did over the weekend!

Even when I took her for a ride the day we saw the "No Dogs Allowed" signs up at our neighborhood park, she also rode most of the way on the floor between the front seats even though Gerard was not with me. It looks like I won after all--yippee! Abby is such a good doggie--we love her!

Here's the video we made Saturday; ironically, we forgot the poop bag after just posting about being responsible and cleaning up after your dog. Take a look:
