Zoo Free

On Thanksgiving, we went to the zoo in the afternoon and the parking lots were pretty full. Admission if free to everyone on Thanksgiving Day!

Donate Your Bike

I learned that Wheels of Change ships used bikes from the U.S. to Africa. You can find a donation facility near you at www.wocinternational.org. If you are getting new bikes for Christmas, you might want to donate your old ones.

Get The Eggs Where You Want Them

Over at For Love or Funny I learned that if you put a glass egg in a nest, hens will lay more near it! She tried this with a dollar bill on her table to see if more money would come, but that didn't work. This is a blog that is usually funny with great pictures to go along with the posts. I visit it regularly and now she is even having a $35 Amazon Gift Card giveaway! I suggest you go visit this upcoming romance author.

Christmas Carols

I was pleased to hear actual Christmas Carols playing in CVS yesterday! At least one store still play Carols. Do you know of any others?

Four Things I Learned This Week--Part 12

I've been wondering for some time how to get my comments to give Commentluv and now I found a post over at Tech Chalet that explains how to do it. It sounds complicated though, so I most likely will put off changing mine until next year. Maybe I'll make it a New Year's resolution!


I found a very good post Please Give Gift To Homeless Animal over at Jodi's Journey that said shelters accept non-monetary gifts as well, such as litter, canned food, paper towels and even used towels so we shouldn't throw those away! We need to donate our used towels to an animal shelter.

I found a neat idea for making use of old Christmas cards--decorate a Christmas tree with them! Unfortunately, I don't remember whose blog I found this on but if I find out, I'll certainly include a link to your post here. I tried this for our small tree and it looks nice. I can put it right by our cat area in the living room and not worry about them ruining anything. So what if they knock over a few cards. See my previous post about this.


I discovered a new interactive site for readers and authors when visiting A Book Inside. It's called Author and Book Event Center. I just joined myself on Wednesday. If you like to read or have published a book, it's really worth checking out.

Breast Cancer 3-Day 60-Mile Walk

We are sponsoring Jan, one of my co-workers and a member of Team Kay, who is doing the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk to raise money for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death for all women, and the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55.


Jan and her daughter, Elissa, did this walk last year too. They have to raise a minimum of $2,200 each in order to participate in this walk which involves camping overnight in a tent with all of the other walkers the weekend of August 22-24, 2008. Team Kay was formed in honor of their Aunt Kay who is a breast cancer survivor and in memory of Jan's mom, who did not survive. They are walking for anyone who has had this horrible disease touch their lives. My sister is also a breast cancer survivor.
