What Do You Do With An Old Winter Coat?

My New L.L. Bean coat arrived last Monday. I sure hope it's as good as my old one. I already notice that it has two less pockets and the inside pocket seems smaller than the one in my old coat. My new coat is much lighter so I hop it is still as warm. It seemed to be warm when I tried it on but I won't know for sure until we get some winter weather.

I was very attached to my old coat. I had my Down L.L. Bean winter coat for a very long time--I think probably 15-20 years! I admit is worn out. The feathers fly out of it because it has some tears here and there, the front pocket is ripped and the hem is out. The zipper holder broke off so I put a paper clip through it. This is something I learned from my dad which I wrote a post about: "Do I Look Like A Bum?". Gerard told me I should get a new winter coat last year so I figured I'd just wait and get one for this winter.

Now, although my old coat is too beat up and worn out to actually wear without looking like a bum, my cats don't mind that at all. They love it! It's soft, warm and they love to snuggle in it. Both Spunky and Manny like it so I'm not throwing it away! Stop by their blog to read their post about their new sleeping place and watch their video: "Patience Pays Off."
