When on vacation last week we decided to be daring and go to a couple places we never went before. We heard how good the ice cream was at Cold Stone and there is one pretty close by to us so off we went for lunch there one hot day last week. We were presented with lots of different flavors from which to choose. There were even two lists! We each got a medium sized bowl and yes, it was very good. It should be for $10! We won't be going there again. At Giant Eagle, we got three 1.5 quarts of Turkey Hill ice cream which is delicious for $10. I wonder how they stay in business. By the way, we were their only customers when we went.
The other new place we tried because we won a 2 for 1 coupon in the Ships Ahoy summer reading contest at our library, was a Mexican restaurant called Chipotle. We got tacos which were very good and not just one but three for one serving. We could also choose the meat we wanted. We ate outside on a shady patio and it was very pleasant. They had music playing, but it wasn't too loud and I did not mind it. We still have another coupon for that place so will be back there.
Have you ever tried either of these places and if so, what did you think of them? Have you tried any new places lately?

Daisy's "mom" here:
First of all, I love Chipotle! I always get the veggie burrito, and I love the taste of the rice for some reason (I think it has lime and cilantro in it). I also love Coldstone Creamery; I always get the Black Forest flavor. It has chocolate ice cream, chunks of chocolate cake and cherries in it. Yum!
My Mother took me to Cold Stone Creamery in Savannah, Georgia. I had a giant waffle cone and wow, was it good. But expensive and I would never, ever pay that kind of money for ice cream but it was an indulgence. We don't have Chipolte here but Mountain Man uses lots of chipolte in cooking. Does that count?
Cold Stone is my favorite ice cream shop. Coffee Lovers Ice Cream is my favorite there. Love. It.
There is a Mexican restaurant on just about ever corner here in California. So Mexican food is a dime a dozen here. Never heard of that restaurant though.
Have a terrific day. :)
we don't have that ice cream shop here in Maine but that i think I saw that brand of ice cream in the freezer section in our local store. i will try that the next time i do my grocery. looks like you are having a wonderful summer.... am happy for you and Gerard.
I don't think I have ever eaten at Chipotle but I have eaten at Coldstone. Coldstone is way too expensive in my book. We have a local place that everyone lines up at. It was so busy the other night that we too went to the grocery and bought two half gallon containers. One vanilla bean, the other moose tracks. We have been having ice cream every night!
We haven't been to Coldstone in awhile but I do really like it! They often have coupons in the paper inserts to make it more affordable. I also like Chipotle especially their burritos. I really like your choices of ice cream from Turkey Hill! Yum!
I've actually been to both places here in Oregon and I loved it.
Cold Stone Creamery...the one that I went to, was still fairly new at the time. The ice cream was really good...and you're right, it better be for the price :) :)...but I loved having all those topping choices! Oh, and this may have been unique to that store..but if you put a tip in the tip jar, ALL the associates would sing an ice cream song!!!! it was cool!!
Chipotle happened to be in the same outdoor shopping mall...although now i"m wondering if that was a chipala's..but anyway, they had outdoor dining there too..and the food was always fresh and very good ingredients!!!
Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
