Whoa! Where Am I? (Part 1-Karen)

Last Monday morning, I started reading a new book on the bus, Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah which is one of the five Gerard got from the library over the weekend. I wore my Indians jacket with my Land's End thin jacket under it because the temperature was only in the 40s. I dozed off and didn’t wake up along the stretch right before my stop like I usually do. I slept right through the whole turn into downtown Cleveland, passed public square and when I woke up, looked out the window and thought, “Whoa, where am I? These buildings do not look familiar!"

I never walked in that direction that far away from my usual bus stop before. I immediately hit the buzzer and got up to get off, but not before the bus turned the corner onto E. 13th Street! (I work on E. 9th Street.) I got an extra walk in and still made it to work with plenty time to spare. This happens now and then, but usually only when it’s still dark.

Why do you think this Happened? Here's your choices:

a) I need more sleep because I stayed up too late blogging.

b) The book was so boring it put me to sleep.

c) I was just too comfortable, comfy cozy and nice and warm.

I think it was because I was so comfy and also maybe a little tired from staying up later than usual working on pictures for my blog posts.

Coming tomorrow will be Part 2 of this post about Gerard who had a similar "Whoa! Where Am I" experience the very next day.

That sounds scary! I'm glad you knew where you were and how to get to work from there.

I'm impressed you can even sleep away from home. I have such trouble dozing off anywhere except my bed or couch. How strange it must have felt. But at least you got a little cat nap in and maybe you felt extra rejuvenated?

Whoa! At least you were still within walking distance! You must've been very comfy! :-D

I think choice #1. That's what I do, anyway. ;)

I don't think I could ever fall asleep on a bus. I commend you. :D But I can imagine how freaky it must have felt when you awoke!

Good thing you were close to where you needed to be! I like Kristin Hannah books so I don't think the book is to blame and I can't imagine a bus being comfy so it must be cause you are staying up too late. But then again, I can't sleep on any moving vehicle including airplanes so maybe they are more comfy to some than others.

Joe had one of those moments last summer. He stayed late downtown to go out for dinner and drinks with his brother who happened to be in town. I didn't mind about that, but he called me to come get him at a stop way past where his car was because he fell asleep. So at 10:00 p.m., I had to get dressed to drive for 45 minutes picking him up and getting him to the station where his car was!!

Uh, yeah, I was a little angry.

My kids still talk about how mad I was to this day!

Falling asleep and missing my stop seems REALLY scary! I don't use public transportation where I live so I am sure it's just out of my norm! I'll have to check out the book "Winter Garden" I've recently discovered Hannah's books and LOVE them!!

Thanks for stopping by today and helping me celebrate my SITS day!!

I think it was because you were warm and cozy and reading and the motion of the bus rocked you to sleep :-)

P.S. - I'm glad to see you're using the Amazon link. I'll try to order my books through you when you suggest them.
