We found each other through Great Expectations and agreed to meet at a Pizza Hut for our first date. This one went very well and Gerard suggested that we go together to the party that Great Expectations had scheduled at a restaurant. I had a feeling it would be bad, but decided to go along and give
it a try since he suggested it. I didn’t want to start off our
relationship by shooting down his ideas right off the bat.

Snoozer |
After Pizza Hut, we went to Marc's to find a toy to take to the Great Expectations party for a child. Everyone was supposed to bring a toy to donate which we thought was a nice idea. We bought a cute stuffed dog. (I liked it so much that later on, Gerard bought me one too and I named it Snoozer.)
It was a cold, wintry night and neither of us normally would have gone anywhere in that kind of weather, much less dress up. Gerard wore a suit and I wore a green velvet dress and was COLD; Gerard told me I had nice legs! There was snow on the ground.
We both had a terrible time, the food was okay but it was so loud, it was hard to hear each other. Neither of us are party people; neither of us drink alcohol; and we just felt very out of place there.
Going was definitely one of Gerard’s bad ideas. The good thing was, we both felt exactly the same way and just wanted to disappear! I don’t think we even stayed a whole hour. We ate quick and left. Our dates could only improve after that! They took a picture of everyone but even that didn’t come out very well as you can see. We laugh about this now, but it really wasn’t funny at the time.
When did you want to disappear?
This is in response to
Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop prompt: “Write about a time when you wanted to disappear.”

I've had a couple of bad dates in my lifetime. I just didn't go out with them again. I would have liked to disappear too.
Nice way to start our your dating. I like it very much.
Have a terrific day. :)
sounds like a 'bad date' could only go 'good' from there. Like you said, at least you were miserable together right off the bat. hahahaha! This was fun, and you two sure make a neat couple.
So nice that it didn't effect your new found relationship. I've definitely been to those parties, where you just want to leave, every minute is torture.
Good thing you got that bad date over with and it's been good dates since! Plus now it's okay to shoot down his ideas! :)
I enjoyed reading y'alls story, even if it started with a bad date!
Oh my goodness, I think I would've wanted to disappear too! The dress alone on a winter day would've ruined it for me. I hate being cold!
Sandee: I figured we shared the blame for this one because he did give me a chance to say no and I went along with the idea. I'm surprised he even suggested it now that I know him better--he is not a partier at all. We felt like a couple fish out of water there, but at least we discovered we had similar interests.
Marlece: Thanks! We are very happy together.
Traci: I wouldn't say it was torture, but it sure was pretty awkward and certainly not fun.
Beaded Tail: You're right, since then we've had good dates and yes, now I feel I can shoot down a bad idea. Usually though, his ideas are good and we are on the same page. Even this bad date confirmed that we had similar interests.
Betsy: Thanks for stopping by and taking time to comment. Glad you enjoyed our story.
Jackie: Yeah, I think that's the last time we ever ate out when we dressed up. Thanks for stopping by and taking time to comment.
What a funny first date story. You must have impressed each other regardless.
