I like:
- Getting paid twice a month.
- having health insurance (not all jobs do, you know).
- The regular hours, overtime is optional and when I leave at 5 p.m., I don’t have to think about it as opposed to being a teacher which was my original plan.
- Not having to go on business trips.
- My co-workers.
- The location near stores, the bank, fast food chains, and the library which I can go to at lunch or on my two 20-min. breaks.
- Having lots of personal time off with pay.
- Getting free tote bags, water bottles, food for different things throughout the year.
- Being able to get Club Seat Indians tickets for free if they aren’t being used by a client.
- That I can put up pictures in my cubicle to personalize it.
- Assisting others which is basically the essence of being a secretary.
In summary, as jobs go, mine is very good. The only thing that would make it better is if it was something I was passionate about. What job do you have and what do you like about it?
This post is part of Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop to list 10 things you like about your job.

It does sound like a good job! I worked at a law firm when I was still in high school. I loved the whole atmosphere, especially when I walked across the street to the courthouse and met my aunt for lunch! Stopping by from Mama Kat's
I enjoyed reading about your job, Karen. How fortunate to have ten positive things to say!! My job is to be the liaison with health plans with our state's State Child Health Insurance Program - I have been here sixteen years. What I like: knowing that hundreds of thousands of children over the years have gotten good health insurance at $15 a month and can have health childhoods for that reason. What I dislike: getting paid once a month! (there are other things but that's good for one comment).
I think co-workers is a VERY big deal! And also being able to personalize your space! lol
Sounds like your job offers you much in the way of free time and great perks! Thanks for coming by my blog today. :)
I wish I had health insurance! I have had 6 jobs in my life and non have insurance, even the amazing one i have now doesnt
I like #7 - Having lots of personal time off with pay. Although my retirement pay isn't all that great, my personal time off (24/7) is wonderful :-)
Your job does sound like a good one! I'm a CPA and have been in public accounting for 12 years with the last 7 of those telecommuting from OR to CO. I like being home every day with my pets! I work 50+ hours a week during tax season but only 24 hours a week the rest of the year which is nice. Plus I get over 200 hours of vacation time a year! I'm on salary and have health insurance too so all in all it's a good job until I win the lottery!
Sounds like you have a nice job! But you seem to be the kind of person who would find the positive about any job, I think.
I like my job a lot. I'm a pro-blogger, and a freelance writer. It can be stressful, finding enough work sometimes, but I love working from home. I think I will do this post, it looks fun!
Tanya: It is s good job. I remember when I first started how intimidated I felt--everything looked so elegant.
Paula: Sounds like you are proud of the job you do and have a passion for it which is a good thing. Sad though to only get paid once a month.
ournextchapter: Yes, a lot of really nice people work there. Any job is better if you like your co-workers.
Cyrene: Yes, lots of perks actually.
Angel: Health insurance never used to be an issue for me but now it sure is. Cancer is expensive!
Old Geezer: We are both looking forward to retirement. Life is funny: seems you either have money but no free time or free time but not much money.
Beaded Tail: Working from home would be nice! Our attorneys get to do that if they want, but secretaries have to actually go to the office.
Rebecca: You're right about looking for the positive side of things. I'd love to just make money by blogging from home but wouldn't want to have to rely on just that. You are a great blogger and glad it works for you!
I told Karen I couldn't even think of 10 things I like about my job. All I could come up with were these four:
morning break
lunch
afternoon break
quitting time (the best)
