The best bargain we ever got was our king sized purple bedspread from Sears. Years ago, we went to Sears looking for a bedspread and found one we liked but there was no price tag. We picked it up and asked the cashier how much it was. She looked all over and could not find a price for it either so just charged us $2.00! Gerard and I just looked at each other, smiled, and said we’ll take it! Then we hurried out of the store before she could change her mind. We have been very happy with it and hope she didn’t lose her job.
Can you believe it? So, what was your best bargain ever?

About ten years ago, my husband managed a Radio Shack and I use to go in and help him. I loved getting on his store computer and going through his inventory for items he might have in stock that were marked down to 99 cents. As I was going through one night I found a 99 cent item and it was an alarm clock... something we needed for our bedroom. That alarm clock still works and we use it to this day.

That is a great bargain. I have found some good deals at Target - one set of framed prints that I have in my foyer had been around $100 for the pair and I found them on clearance for a little under $10 each.
Here is a funny story my gramma told us. Way back when she was pregnant with my Mommeh, she found out at the last minute she was going to have twins! Back then, they didn't have ultrasounds and stuff, so they didn't usually know in advance. Sears had a gimmick called "Twin Insurance" that you bought, and then if you had twins, everything that you already bought for the baby, you got another one free! She had just enough time to get the twin insurance and a bunch of extra stuff.
ps: Harley is excited that you learned a lot from his explanation today!
Wow, let's see - I had not put any thought into the bargain prompt. Congrats on the $2 bedspread by the way. NICE!! Let's go with -- when my daughter and I were in NYC in September 2009 for my friend's daughter's Bat Mitzvah, we went immediately to the theater where WICKED shows as soon as we dropped our luggage at our hotel (in Jersey City). We put our names in for the "Wicked Lottery," in which you get front row seats for $25 each. The catch is you have to show up super early (like between 4 and 6 p.m. for the 8:00 show) and lots of people enter the lottery. When we came back to the theater and they drew the names, we WON!!! (there are about 20 lottery seats/there were about 200 people trying). Specifically: my daughter's name won (she didn't let me forget it was HER name that won) -- she now has a button that says "I won the WICKED Lottery." Times were quite stretched for us financially, and my backup plan had been to get the cheapest (around $85) seats, which would have put us in the far back of the theater. I will never forget sitting in the front row, so close I could literally almost touch the actors. What a thrill - we were DEFYING GRAVITY - on a shoestring budget!!!!
Wow! That is a bargain! It is a very pretty bedspread too. I would have left very quickly too. She might have changed her mind. LOL It is about time to get out the winter blankets and heavy spread.
