Poor Brenda--A Very Upsetting Tribal Council!

I usually enjoy watching "Survivor" but this past week, I couldn't get over how mean Cochran, Dawn and Sherri voting out Brenda after she gave up time and dinner with her family so they all could spend time at a barbeque with theirs.  That just blew me away and I felt so sorry for Brenda, especially being betrayed by Dawn who she was constantly encouraging and who she even found her false teeth that she lost in the water.

Up till now, I was pulling for Cochran but no more.  Now I'm pulling for Eddie or Erik.  I'd love to see Eddie win since he was an underdog all the way with only an alliance of three, two of which have been gone for awhile.

Brenda was not only nice, but also did well in challenges and didn't complain.  Her mistake was assuming others were nice too, especially Dawn.  Brenda never should have let Dawn win that immunity challenge, but I'm sure the fact that Dawn was mad at her for giving up their barbeque weighed on her.  At the time Dawn won the challenge, I was happy for her because it sort of made up for the huge disappointment from earlier.  However, after "stabbing Brenda in the back," I really want Dawn gone!

This is just really sad how greed can make people act so mean.   I know it's a "game" but really this show shows how the love of money really is the root of all evil!  I like the players who manage to win without be cruel to others, and yes, there were some!

Brenda, you would be a GREAT friend!  I would not have given away that reward, you earned it fair and square!

What did you think about last week's show?

Some Suggestions for The Biggest Loser Show--Love It!

Me and my cat, Manny, love "The Biggest Loser" show!  It started on Sunday night for two hours and followed up with another two hours on Monday.  I DVRd it so it only took me three hours to watch instead of four.  I had planned to just watch the first show but it was so good, I couldn't stop and watched the second show too. This show is so inspirational when you watch it from the beginning to end and see the contestants transform both in attitude and appearance.
Jillian

This season, for the first time, they are including three obese kids, all of which are very likable and you just can't help but pull for them.  I loved that they get to participate in the challenges with the adults in fun ways.  They train separately and are not at the ranch the whole time so they can continue their normal life at home but the trainers check in with them and all three trainers get to work with all three kids.  The kids are very happy to be there and I was glad that the trainers took a different approach in training them than they do with the adults.  Even Jillian (the mean trainer) was actually nice to them and related to them well, sharing some of her background.

Another change they made at least at the beginning this season, is that the contestants do not get to vote off anyone, but instead the one who loses the least weight on the losing team is the one to go.  This is a fairer weigh of eliminating people; however, because of the second week "curse" (if someone loses a whole lot the first week, usually the second week is a bad one for them).  In this case, I felt it was very unfair that Nathan had to leave even though he lost 25 pounds in just two weeks (20 the first week, only 5 the second week).  Yes, his team lost but others on the show lost less than he did.  I just didn't seem right to me and I am not the only one.  When I read their Facebook Fan page, there were lots of comments about the unfairness of this.  I'm thinking somehow, he'll be back, I hope!

Here are some suggestions I think the show should consider making:

  • I suggest that they address the second week "curse" issue by using a combined weight loss including both the first and second weeks to compensate for this occurrence.  Either that, or let those who lose 15 or more pounds in the first week get a free pass the second week.
  • The first three weeks I'd like to see them work with the trainers without teams.  If they would wait to set up the teams, they could see who clicks best with which trainer, and balance out the teams better.  Just sayin'.  I don't know why they don't do it this way.
  •  Tell Jillian to clean up her language and treat the contestants with respect.  I don't know what got into her, but she was beyond tough, she was downright disrespectful.  She does liven things up on the show and I like how she pushes them to do better; however, she needs to treat people with respect.
  • I would appreciate not seeing the people actually vomit.  That was just disgusting.
  • Finally, for the time being, I hate when teams get pound advantages in the weigh-in for winning a challenge.  This really doesn't seem right at all to me because it could hurt the team who lost the most weight which is what this show is all about.  A better reward would be an extra hour of training one-on-one with the trainer of their choice or even a personal type reward.
What do you think about this show and my suggestions for improvement?  Do you watch?

Fun Show: "Take The Money And Run!" on ABC

I love watching the new show, "Take The Money And Run" on ABC Tuesday nights. I am taping this series! The premise of the show is to give two people a brief case full of $100,000 in which they have one hour to hide it. Then they are "arrested" and interrogated by real interrogators (Mary Stone and Paul Bishop) and two cops try to find it within 48 hours. If they find it, the cops get the money but if they can't find it, then the two people who hid it keep the money. The cops are given the cell phone record, use GPS tracking and any receipts for items bought.

The first week was two brothers who buried the brief case in a city park and made lots of phone calls to different people so the cops would waste time tracking the people they called. It would have worked, except the one brother caved in and told the interrogator where they hid the money because he couldn't stand being alone in the cell any longer and wanted out. What a goof!

The second episode was a married couple who simply called the wife's sister and had her call another guy (I think their brother) to let them hide the money in his house. He was okay with it and they parked six blocks away and ran to the house to hide the cash way up on top of some cabinet. Then they drove a lot and stopped at a gas station for something to drink. This couple did not crack and the cops had no idea where the money was. The interrogators were frustrated because they knew the couple was lying to them but didn't know what the truth was and had no clues for the cops.

I love this show! It's fun to guess who will win and see how both sides think.

The Biggest Loser Inspires Me To Exercise Too

I enjoy watching "The Biggest Loser" on TV because it is so inspiring. I admire those contestants who have the courage to go through all that on TV and work so hard to lose weight. I especially love watching them compete in the challenges. When I see them working out, it makes me want to do it too. Following are two of my favorites this season:

So Long, Shay--Sorry You're Not The Biggest Loser

I like watching "The Biggest Loser." It's my favorite show right now because I like seeing these people succeed in their weight loss journey to get healthy and enjoy living again. Last Tuesday though I was sorry to see Shay voted off. I do not understand why the others think she can do this on her own.

Shay was the heaviest one there, well over 400 lbs.! In just nine weeks, she lost 100 lbs. and now holds the record for the woman to lose that much weight in the shortest time. Tuesday she lost 17 lbs. in one week! Clearly she worked hard and even losing the 100 lbs. only brought her down to well over 300 lbs. which was the starting weight for many on the show. Obviously, she still has a long way to go and definitely should be there.

I felt bad that she had to leave when she was finally making great progress and has so much more work to do yet. Jillian, one of the trainers, felt bad for her too and really wanted her to stay. I wish Shay the best and hope she can stick with it.

Do you watch this show? What do you think about this?

New Reality Show: "The Greatest American Dog"

This is a show Gerard and I both laughed at and enjoyed immensely! We both like dogs and there were 12 on here to start. The sad part is that each week one dog and owner gets voted off (similar to Survivor). I felt bad for the owner that got voted off first, but his dog didn't seem to care at all! There is a panel of three judges who are knowledgeable about dogs and are qualified to judge the relationships between the dogs and their owners.

The premise is to end up with the Great American dog through the process of elimination. Each week the owners teach their dogs new things. The first night the dogs played musical chairs which was cute. The winner of the little competition had to choose one dog and owner to spend the night in the dog house. The New Yorker in a suit was the first to be chosen. It was nice to see the other dog owners bring amenities out to him so he could be more comfortable. Finally, a show that showed people being nice to each other for a change!

The winner of the competition also got a golden bone and the privilege of staying in a special room that was decorated to look sort of like a park. It was very cool! His dog got a real bone.

You can take a look at all the dogs at www.dogster.com and then on the right side of the screen is a big box to click on that says "Greatest American Dog Fan Club." Go see them! They are all sizes and breeds. I like Leroy because he was funny. As soon as he arrived, he took off for the swimming pool and he barks a lot too! They stay a a very fancy place! If you like dogs, you gotta watch this show! Thursday night, 8 p.m. channel 19 (Eastern time).
