My Loving Husband Surprises Me Again!

My husband surprised me this morning with a new shirt.  The first I saw it was when we went on our early morning walk together with our dog.  This one really made me feel good!

Isn't he sweet?

What a Crazy Outfit!

Relaxing After Busy Work Day Yesterday in My "Chocolate Makes Me Smile" Nightshirt
Mr. Wonderful took this picture and told me to post it.  He thought this outfit was hilarious and wanted to see what our readers think of it.  (I think it's okay until I get to the furry slippers.)  It's all wrinkly because it was buried in the bottom of my drawer.  Hopefully I won't get a "come as you are" party invitation tonight.

Our New Clothes

Spunky and Karen in her new t-shirt

I found this t-shirt at artbyljgrove.com which has Fun Art Clothing and Accessories by Laurie J. Grove.  I had a hard time holding Spunky Doodle without covering up the design on the shirt--she is not very happy since it wasn't her idea.

Abby and Gerard in his new hoodie

This hoodie is one Gerard found in Catalog Favorites.  In case you can't read it, it says "Walk With A Friend."

6 Reasons I Like My Owl Hat

This is a picture of the owl hat I got for Christmas. It was one of the things I pointed out to Gerard that I liked as we walked through Kaufman’s on our Black Friday shopping trip.

I like owls so thought it was both (1) cute and (2) kind of funny. (I like funny.) I’ve seen this style hats on teens and thought they looked a bit silly, but now that I have one, I see they are very practical. (3) It is light weight, (4) covers my ears, and (5) is warm but does not block my vision. You can laugh if you want, but another very practical feature is that (6) it is highly visible because of the white around the eyes. I get compliments every time I wear it!

What do you think of it? Do you have any cute animal hats?  If not, I think you should give it a try! Hoot, hoot!

I Can Finally Wear a Dress Again

I have quite a few skirts and nice dresses that Gerard has bought for me in the past but I quit wearing because I just couldn’t find any comfortable shoes to wear with them. I really don’t like dressing up, but at least wore a dress or skirt to church for years. Once I quit though, I got used to being comfortable on Sundays too! I haven’t worn a dress in probably three years at least, until last Sunday.

I decided that if I didn’t want to part with my skirts and dresses, then I should start wearing them again and getting some use out of them. So, I finally went to Lucky Shoes when we did our Christmas shopping and bought myself a pair. I was very impressed with the shoe saleswoman that actually brought several different shoes for me to try without an attitude. She was very helpful and even measured my feet. I am pleased to say that I wore them all morning without my feet hurting last Sunday! Next time I need shoes, it’s off to Lucky Shoes.

I figure it’s only fair that if Gerard gets dressed up for church in his suit, that I should dress up too. I got lots of compliments on my dress and always do because he really does have good taste in clothes.

So, another one of my resolutions for this year is to dress up for church on Sundays again. How often do you get dressed up? Do you have clothes hanging in your closet that you never wear? If so, maybe you should give some away.

Rainy Season is Here and Gerard's Ready

Rain doesn't bother me--Karen will dry me off

Over the past week or so, it seems like every time it's time to walk the dog, it's raining.  Our dog, Abby, doesn't mind walking in the rain at all.  She'll even took Gerard on an hour to an hour and a half walk in the rain when he had the day off for his birthday.

This is much better!

That's why I bought him a raincoat for his birthday this year.  He had other jackets, but not that were waterproof so he really came back soaked.  Walking in the rain isn't hear so bad if you are prepared for it.

I have a long rain coat too that is really good for rainy days.  It's not very warm, but it's big enough for me to wear a jacket under it.

Do you wear a rain coat?

Do You Like Any Of These Styles?

I could never be a fashion designed because usually whenever I see new styles, I think “ugh.” These are good examples that I saw in the PLAIN DEALER February 27 (for better pictures check out the actual article, At New York Fashion Week Techno Fabrics Morph Old Shapes Into Something New:

1) This dress looks like a Halloween costume for someone who wants to look like Cousin It from the Addams Family TV show.

2) This one makes me think of Star Trek.

3) This is the only I would want to wear at all but think it would be better in a brighter color. I don’t like this color at all!

Why Wear Neckties?

neckties
Here is a picture of Gerard on Sunday morning before we leave for church. He wanted me to take a picture of him to post just to show our readers that he does wear ties and dresses nice sometimes too. Actually, he has a whole lot of ties, and we don't even have children that give them to him as gifts every holiday. He has a nice variety of ties, most of which I bought for him. The only purpose for neckties is to say "I'm dressed up." They also show you are looking professional or businesslike.  It's no wonder men like "casual Fridays" when they do not have to wear neckties.

For someone who wears suits every day, they are a way to at least show some of your personality or interests. The only time Gerard will wear a tie is on Sundays to church or to a funeral or wedding. Since he works at a warehouse, one of the benefits is he can wear jeans, shorts and t-shirts.  That's the best thing about his job!

What does your tie collection look like? Do you wear ties often?

Funny and Strange Sights

On the bus one day I saw the funniest pair of tennis shoes. They had Rubic cube squares all over them.  I really should have taken a picture but at the time, I didn't think I'd post about them.

People really should wear clothes that fit. When walking on my break one day in downtown Cleveland I saw an overweight gentlemen eating at a sidewalk table outside the Chocolate Bar. He was in a suit so I assume he was a businessman, but his shirt button had popped open and everybody walking by could see his hairy belly button! Poor guy.  I thought about taking his picture, but refrained knowing he would not appreciate that.

On our trip to the zoo, it irks me how parents yell at their kids such as "Don't walk on the rocks," "Get over here RIGHT NOW!" "Stop petting the donkey, we're moving on," etc. The zoo should be a fun place! I love seeing the kids get excited over things. At the exhibit about poop, two little girls were having so much fun hitting the button that made the sound of a toilet flushing and posing behind a picture with the head cut out of someone sitting on a toilet.  Then they got a big kick out of it when their dad put his head in the hole and made a funny face like he was trying real hard to go. I must say though, that I saw a good mom and dad too. It was a hot day so the mother brought along a spray bottle filled with water and sprayed her two girls to cool them off.

Never Thought I'd Fit Into a Small

When we went shopping on our anniversary at Walmart Saturday, Gerard looked in the clothes section while I went to buy some shelf paper to make my race track for my new Sunday School scripture challenge race. Anyway, he spotted a really pretty blue polo shirt and although it's not like he needs another shirt, it was marked down so I encouraged him to buy it. I told him he should get a small. He used to get XL long, long ago, then large, then lately medium, but I really think a small would fit him just right. He couldn't believe he could fit into a small and was very proud of himself so here he is. A picture of him in his new SMALL shirt.

To see how big he used to be, here's an earlier post when he weighed 300 pounds:
