Abby With Santa
Abby visits her vet (the one that saved her life after being attacked) almost every day on her walk and they all enjoy petting her, giving her treats, teaching her new tricks and even photographing her. This week, one of the receptionists took her picture by their CHRISTMAS tree and emailed them to us. |

Banking
I went to the bank this week to deposit my bonus check. I fill out the deposit slips, a small portion into my checking, with the rest cast back which I put into my savings. I look at my checking balance which said I had a negative $1.46 available in checking (due to the hold placed on the check). Good thing I noticed! This is so crazy, to make a deposit and not have anything available in checking because it was a big check? Good thing I went at lunch instead of on my break because the teller went to lunch and I had to get that hold switched to my savings instead.Frozen
It got so cold that our garbage can lid was frozen closed! There was a layer of ice all around the lid so I finally went out and used the handle of one of our small summer clippers to chip it off.Help!
Work got crazy this week with the pressure of sending out company "holiday" cards. (I hate that term, but that's what they were--no mention of Christmas anywhere!) Fortunately, when I put out a call for help because I could see there was not way I could get them out on time, five other secretaries came to help me out. What a relief I felt when I saw how fast it was going with their assistance. Look around, is there anyone you could help with something?Books

That was nice that you got help at work. I do that a lot, but it backfires--then the job becomes mine because I had "free" time. Ugh. I do have one girl that helps me all the time--I appreciate her.
It's that time of year for freezing--I don't like it when our car doors freeze. Especially when you are in a hurry to go somewhere!

I got stuck on the cards that others helped you with. We need to help each other more often. That made me smile.
Now that's cold. I want to live where it's warm all year long.

I would be interested to read the Palin book about Christmas. Was it stimulating or just disturbing? Why can't you get it out of your head? Just wondering before I pick it up myself ;-)
Abby looks great beside the tree!! So glad you had help with your Christmas letters!! It is frustrating when they neuter the season! I remembering having to bust ice off stuff. Such fun memories from Iowa!!
Abby is so cute! I don't quite understand why the check made your balance go negative but glad you saw it right away! It's wonderful you had five people respond to your request for help. That made me smile!
It is crazy that they put holds on big checks. I had that with an insurance check and it just seems stupid.

Sarah Palin's book does sound like a good one. Have you read The Girl You Left Behind or Me Before You? I listened to both recently (not finished, though, so no spoilers, please!haha)
Bank holds bug me. If possible, I take the checks to the issueing banks, cash them there, and then take the to my own bank to deposit.
Kendall is home! She's offered to help with a number of holiday prep items on my list--I'm so grateful! Thanks for the Christmas card--Kendall will be helping send you one of ours! :)
You gotta love banks. I opened an account at a new credit union four weeks ago and just got my debit card TODAY. Its been such a pain!

Our bank does that too. It is frustrating.
Abby is adorable! Our vet is just up the street too. I love that they are part of the neighborhood and our Lance and Louie love them.
I have enjoyed Sarah's books and they have stayed with me too.

Awww, Abby looks so happy! I'm glad you have such a great vet. I remember the attack story. Such a shame.
Our garage door has been in an endless loop of being stuck. When you hit the remote, it only comes down 6 inches, then retreats back. Ugh. Every day for this cold spell, I had to get out of the car and yank it down by its handle. Luckily it's getting into the 60s today and so no more fiddling with it!
That is a crazy banking system! I have had big checks have holds but only on the new money not holding on what was already there. Luckily you did notice and right before Christmas -- aack!

Kay--I guess because it made me more aware of things that go on which are anti-Christmas and anti-Christian more than in past years.
