Spunky Doodle Helps Set Up The Natvity Set

This is not just any Nativity Set. It is very special to me because it is handmade by kids I had in youth group back in 1982! Didn't they do a fantastic job? Each kid painted one piece and the names are on the bottom of the one each did.

Unfortunately, some of the original pieces got broken or lost when it was at the church. These were the original cow by Jeff, the angel by Henry, the other shepherd holding a sheep by Tracy and another sheep. Once I found this out, I promptly brought the rest of the set home and kept it for myself. Originally, I donated it to the church to set out each year.

More about this will be posted later on "My Funny Dad, Harry" blog relating to the actual making of it because, of course, my dad came through and assisted me with this too! (Will post once I get my older photos scanned.)

This is such a nice little house for me. I like when Karen brings it out each year.

I will just settle in while she fusses around with the other box of stuff.

Here's the little figures that take up all the space. I will help her get them out.

Always play along the way when doing chores . . . here I am impersonating Daisy the Curly cat, by wrapping this paper around me to look like a coat. What do you think?

I used to be able to fit in here better when I was just a kitten . . . I am now 4 years big!

Here is a picture of how I used to fit inside with the pieces without knocking over Mary.

no kitty could resist getting inside the manger and being a part of unwrapping the nativity. Very cute!

Hey Spunky, I am 4 years big, too! You look good in that newspaper-coat. Maybe you would enjoy modeling something like a little t-shirt!

Well, there has to be a kitty in the scene too. It just wouldn't be right if a kitty wasn't there. How cute. Have a purrfect day. :)

Why, setting up Christmas decorations without a kitty's help is just plain impossible :-) BTW, I go to the kitty trivia site (and the doggy one too) at least once a week...more often if I remember. Thanks for stopping by Spatter today.

That's cute! It's held up really well over the years. Cute kitty, too ;)

Very cute pictures! Spunky wants to get in there and praise Jesus too.

Your youth group did a fabulous job making the nativity set. I never would have guessed that they were handmade.

How cute! That is cool that you have something like that and have the name on the pieces. Love the modeling!

Spunky is a real scene stealer hehe. :) Love the little pieces for your nativity set. That's what we lack here in the house coz we only have Christmas Tree to set up every year.

Hello Karen.

Spunky is so cute trying to fit into the manger. I love nativity scenes. I don't own one but would love to come across an inexpensive one for my mantle. I'm so glad that you stopped by my blog today. I hope that you are having a joyful holiday season.

What a special set!!! The set I fell in love with is by Heartwood Creek by Jim something or another. My Mom picks up a new piece each year since they cost a small fortune for the whole set. I love them, maybe I should have written about that instead of my alternate universe spouses... hmmm...

I love how each piece was painted by a student.
The cat reminds me of my own kitty when I was little, always squeezing into little places!
