What Bothered Me This Week? (Vlogging Workshop)

It not only bothered me that my Twitter account was suspended, but that I did actually violate one of the guidelines!  I just forgot about that one because when I first opened my Twitter account, I wasn't aware that I could even automatically send tweets with links to my blog posts when I posted them.  Bloggers beware!  I am choosing to look on the bright side of this though, if they do not re-instate my account, it will just be one less thing for me to do.  (Maybe I could open a new one?)

(Related post:  The other things that bothered me are listed in my "What's Not Working Now?" post from yesterday.  Oh, and today I discovered Lumosity automatically renewed my account, charging my credit card for $79.95!  I HATE automatic renewals!!!!!!!!  Haven't used that site in months, they better give me a credit!!!!!)

A Rant: What's Not Working Now?

I am so tired of things not working. We have a whole list of things here and it just keeps growing every week:

(1) Kitchen towel rack: It keeps falling down every couple days or so--duct tape is only a temporary fix but it's been up now for over a week now.

 (2) TV:  Our Westinghouse living room TV wouldn't give us a picture when Gerard tried putting on the news one morning, just kept saying no signal like it always does because the power saver is on.  But when we hit the "info" button, then the picture comes on.  By evening it worked when I tried it--it's just moody I guess.

(3)  Vacuum Cleaner:  Our new wireless Gtech vacuum cleaner quit working two weeks ago. We just had it about a month and a half. While I tried to find what was wrong, I discovered one of the air filters was missing. I have no idea how my husband could lose it without seeing it fall out. It must have happened when he was emptying it one day.  Gtech kindly sent a new battery and a replacement filter but it still doesn't work.  I returned it at the store for a new one last night.

(4) Computer:  Even at work my computer keeps crashing at the end of the day, very frustrating.

(5)  Poster Hanger Goop:  Got home from work and saw my poster was down--the sticky stuff that's supposed to hold it up didn't but now can't get it off the wall!

(6) Cell Alarm:  My cell phone alarm didn't go off, who knows why; then the next day it did.

 (7) My '98 Van:  The back hatch door on my van gets stuck and either won't close or open.  Right now I finally got it closed but am afraid to use it.  The left door rubber is loose again so I don't use it because the rubber comes up and keeps the door from closing.

(8)  Basement laundry tubs:  Friday morning the water from the washing machine wouldn't drain (the drain was blocked by something so was able to fix that at least).

(9) Shower:  The basement sliding shower door that my husband uses keeps coming off the track.  My upstairs shower used to be set so the water always came out from the top, but after the carpet guy used the bottom part to fill his bucket, I have to keep re-setting it every time.

(10) Twitter:  To top it off, Saturday morning I found out my Twitter account got suspended!   (I am vlogging about this one tomorrow but am pleased to report that yesterday my account was re-instated.  Thank you, Twitter!)

I am thankful that this is my biggest problem.  It's just annoying and frustrating, especially when you spend money on something that doesn't work shortly after buying it.  We really like the Gtech vacuum cleaner because it is so small, light, easy to empty and there's no cord to fuss with; however, at the moment there is no power either!

Things That Currently Bug Us

Life is really good for us and we really aren't experience any major troubles right now which we are thankful for.  There are a few little things though that are like gnats that are currently bugging us.  Want to know what they are?  No?  then move on.  Yes? then keep on reading.  Here's our list:

Can you guess what bugs Gerard about the top shelf?
  1. Gerard just told me the other day that if we would use a different bowl for Abby's food, we could have all three bowls in our bear plate set on the shelf and it would look better.  We've been using one of these bowls for close to a year at least and he just mentioned that it bothered him.  This cracked me up that such a thing bugged him.  I immediately looked for a different bowl for Abby and found one.

  2. This is NOT good!

Yesterday, the rubber stripping at the bottom of my middle van door came loose again, impeding the opening and closing of the door.  This bugs me because we use this door every week when we visit the skilled care facilities with Abby.  I already had this problem fixed once before and now it happened again.

  3. These stains are too tough for these three cleaners.
  4. We have these stubborn stains in our den and I've tried three different cleaners to try getting them out but none have worked. Granted, the Nature's Miracle says to use it first or it will react with the previous chemicals used and won't work. Well, of the three, it still seemed to work best. I used it on the spot farthest right and at least it foamed up and made it lighter. It's supposed to draw the urine out of the carpet. That first one, the foam just made the spot bigger and the Bissell stomp n go didn't seem to do anything at all. It is the easiest one to use though. Hopefully it will work on stains not set in better!
  5. These were so good--a gift from my ex-boss for Christmas.
  6. I went to the cupboard to have a piece of my Malley's candy and was shocked to find only three pieces left! Last I looked, there were like three whole rows left! I did say Gerard could have "some" too, but he ate practically the whole box! These were really good creams so I packed the last three pieces into my lunch bag. Guess he felt bad because he just bought two big special dark Hershey chocolate bars and told me I could have one--he just found out that a little dark chocolate is good for you.  Gerard says, "NO, I DID NOT EAT THE WHOLE BOX!  I KNOW WHAT I ATE, AND I KNOW I DIDN'T!" (I think I had about 6 pieces, at the most 8.)

  7. I really like this pen . . . I'd like it more if I didn't have to tape it..
  8. The free YAMMER pen I got writes nice with a fine line which I like, and is wide so easy to hold. The only trouble is that the clicker won't stay down to keep the point out. I taped it down with scotch tape, but it only holds for a day and then I have to retape it the next day.

  9. Finally, having lights on in an empty room bugs me. I see no reason for this, but Gerard does it every time he vacuums. He says it's easier because then he doesn't have to turn the lights on and off while he maneuvers the vacuum cleaner around. I guess I can see that at least makes a little sense, right? But why put on both lights in the dining room while he goes to walk the dog? I even turn out the one light and turn it back on when it's near time for his return.
What's bugging you lately?  Here's your chance to sound off.

Grrrr--5 Things About Blogs I Find Annoying

Following is a list of things that I find annoying when reading blogs. Perhaps, if yours falls into one or more of these categories, you will accept it as constructive criticism, not as an insult. If you agree or disagree with any of these things, please leave a comment. Perhaps it's just me that find these things annoying. I'd like to know.

Black backgrounds that are difficult to read because of the color print or font size used. I really find black background blogs depressing unless its a photo blog. Here's a clue--if you use a black background or any dark background, use a light color for the print such as white, yellow, or pink and make it big enough for us old folks to read it easily. I find these are the easiest to read. If I have trouble reading your blog, chances are I won't bother. That's a time when I drop my card and move on. (i.e., Walking Newspaper)

I like to know the length of the posts up front. I find it annoying when I can't just read the entire post on the one page, but have to click "read more" to get to see the end of it although I will do it if I found the beginning of interest. (i.e., Happy Family Matters, Father Blogger)

It's very annoying when I have to look all over the blog for the Entrecard and then find it buried among a bunch of advertisements or worse yet, way at the bottom of the page! (i.e., Dwayne Dot Com, ) People who position their Entrecard way at the bottom of the page thinking that I will read posts on the way are Wrong! In fact, the farther down I have to go to find it takes me away from reading the posts. If it's near the top, then I will scroll down and focus on some posts to see if anything interests me there. Also, no way would I choose to advertise on these blogs. At least with the new "one page down" rule Entrecard is implementing, this annoyance should be gone. I noticed Walking Newspaper has moved it up some--it used to be in the footer which after I realized it, I would just automatically scroll all the way down to it and move on.

I dislike posts with narrow sidebars and wide posts that run almost across the whole screen. I will seldom read those either but fortunately, there are not too many. (i.e., Cheaper by the Half Dozen and More). This one I do read anyway because the blogger does have interesting posts.

Is there anything about my blogs that annoys you?
