3 Things We Learned This Week 42 of 2011 (Health, nature, funny)

Women's Health

From the Parade insert in the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, I learned the following interesting facts:
  • Women who eat 6-10 prunes a day have significantly higher bone density than those who eat other fruit. Prunes can help increase bone mass so I'm going to start eating them again.
  • Calling your mother can help reduce stress. I would love to talk to my mom but she died the end of 1999.
  • Women on average need between 5-6 1/2 hours of sleep each night for a long, healthy life. (Men need more, 8 hours per night average.)
  • More than 38% of women pay more than $20 billion per year to manage Incontinence. One way to reduce your risk is to cut down on coffee--Caffeine stimulates urine production and acts as a bladder irritant.
There is also a Men's Health quiz at www.parade.com/men.

Woodpeckers

I thought woodpeckers just pecked at trees, but nope, wrong again. Over at "My Quality Day" I met A Woodpecker Named Murphy who made a big hole in a wood building! Another good reason to have a brick house!

Death

"Cancel Your Credit Cards Before You Die" over at Jodi's Journey was the funniest post I read this week. Plus, good advice!

Find more Friday Fragments or link up some of your own at Half-Past Kissin' Time.

rofl..."and what do you do with dead people on your planet"....priceless. Thanks for sharing the link to closing a bank account before you die.

Thanks for visiting. And reason I'm not 'rooting' for the Texas Rangers is --simple...don't like the team. My favorite TX team is Houston Astros. LOL

Have a great weekend.

Oh Yes! Woodpeckers can be very destructive little critters. The buildings at place where we go camping have suffered a considerable amount of damage from Mr. Woodpecker.

God Bless and have a Wonderful Weekend :-)

I didn't know that about prunes. Cool.

I'd love to call my mother too, but she's gone as well.

I read Jodi's post about the credit card. How sad that is.

Have a terrific day and weekend. :)

Around here, woodpeckers like to peck at the tall palm trees!

Tettelestal: Glad you like my random things every week!

Hootin' Annie: Glad you enjoyed the credit card post too. I didn't get why they would charge fees when there wasn't even a balance. I wound never have a card like that!

I forgot about the Astros--now I understand.

Ron: I don't think I ever saw a woodpecker or any building damaged by them.

Sandee: Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Glad you found the prune information enlightening.

Daisy: I guess the woodpeckers like any wood!

I have a friend here in Michigan that is having a friendly exchange with a woodpecker that has taken a liking to her home.

I'm disappointed that women don't need more sleep than that. I wonder if it's that we don't allow ourselves as much sleep because we want everything done before bed.
