Get This Calendar...
I found this calendar widget over at Thistle Cove Farm while Blog Trotting. They had a rooster on theirs but since I'm not on a farm, I thought this picture better suited me. They have several different choices but all with the same verse.
One of my favorite things at the beginning of a new year is to put up our new calendars and mark the important dates. We have some wall calendars, desk calendars, monthly planning book calendars and a pocket size calendar. They all serve a purpose and keep me organized. Here are the ones we have and how we use them:
- The wall one I have at work I use for work notes and upcoming events. It has pets on it from the Humane Society. Usually, I use a customized one that I make with our family pictures, but didn't do one for this year because we had plenty already.
- Gerard gave me a day-by-day dog calendar that I have on my desk at work. It's purely for information on dogs and to make me smile at the beautiful dog pictures. There is no room to write on this one.
- In our kitchen, we have a wolf wall calendar from the Defenders of Wildlife which we use for birthdays, pills/Frontline,and appointments.
- In my den, I have the big desk calendar from Gerard that he got free from work. I have a big desk so it fits nicely. I will use the big desk calendar for my workout/clothes schedule, Dr. appointments, things I need to remember to do.
- I gave him a cool weekly PEANUTS calendar for Christmas that he uses on his desk in the basement. It has plenty room to write and a comic strip for each week. I asked him if he would want when I found out he got the big desk calendar from work and bought a dog calendar from Marc's. He said he did because it's really neat!
- My custom wall calendar from work that has my name on every picture is in the den and used for my S.S. class. I have the boys birthdays on it so I remember to bring a treat that week and the lessons so I can quickly see what's coming up. I considered using it at work, but since I'm there so much, I wanted to be looking at animals rather than scenery.
- My pocket calendar I use for recording the scripture I read each day and try to choose a special verse or thought from the passage. I am still using the same one as last year because it is for two years.
- At my home computer, I have a monthly notebook planning calendar I'm going to use for blogging that will help me with scheduling posts.
Of course, I have days off work marked on ALL my calendars! We still have three more that we don't have a place for: flowers from Easter Seals, birds, and one from Turkey Hill. Anyone need a calendar?
What do you like that helps you organize? Do you have calendars throughout your house too? I don't see how people can function without a calendar to keep track of things.

I'm actually down to one calendar this year--it features a local SC artist's paintings. Oh, and the stuff I put on my phone calendar. Not so much goes on the calendar here since the girls grew up, so I don't seem to need one in every room and the car!
Oh I love calendars! But this is the first year I don't have a dedicated one for my home office. I have been forcing myself to use the one on the computer (Thunderbird email program), since I do everything on the computer, anyway.
I love getting my new calendar ready for the new year too. I only have one and it's in my home office so I can see it every day. Gives me stuff to look forward to besides work!
I love calendars and I have 4 I use. This is the first time in about 12 years I don't have the Dog calendar like you have and I miss it so much I'm going to order one. Nothing better than calendars with their awesome pictures or fun facts.
I am way under-organized!
I knew there had to be others who like calendars as much as I do! I decided to bring home my dog calendar and use it at my computer desk since my monthly planning notebook one doesn't have any pictures. My work desk looked kind of crowded too. This way Gerard can enjoy it as well.

Great post! I love calendars and each year I buy a couple for home and a couple for work. I just have to get in the habit of using them more often.
