That's One Expensive Comic Book!

On Saturday (2/27/10) I read in the PLAIN DEALER that an anonymous buyer at an auction paid $1,075,500 for a 1939 Batman comic book. The title was Detective Comics and the cover has Batman swinging on a rope over houses. A 1938 Action Comic book featuring Superman sold for $1 million.

I can't imagine spending anywhere near that much money for a comic book, can you? I think that is just plain crazy. Throwing money away like that when so many people are in need is hard for me to fathom. If I had $1 million to just spend, I sure wouldn't spend it all on a comic book! I probably would distribute a fair amount among my charities that I support and help some people I know who are struggling financially. Maybe I'd even retire early!

How would you spend an extra $1 million?

I'm with you, no way would I throw money away like that unless I had more money than I knew what to do with, but maybe the person that received the money will do some great things with it.

Rich people almost NEVER make any sense to me, lol! I would pay off my debts, give money to my kids, buy myself a car (we only have one now) and then plan a HUGE party!!! I love throwing parties and we'd all be eating really well with this kind of money, lol!

That had to be a person who has no respect for the good money can and should do. Hopefully there was a reason - maybe he (it had to be a he) knows he can use it to raise money for some other good cause. Hard to believe, but try to look for the good in people.
