5 Friday Fragments (Klutzy, Tweets, resolutions, computer, book)

Friday Fragments is hosted my Half-Past Kissin' Time for bloggers to post a list of short things on their minds that aren't really enough for a whole post. Here we go:

Ouch!

Sometimes I can't believe how klutzy I am. Last Sunday I even got hurt sitting in church! I bent over to get my coat on and boom! I banged my forehead hard on the pew in front of me and my glasses fell off. Fortunately, it was at the end of the service and I put some ice on it right after. Kathy at the Junk Drawer agreed with me that I should win the "Klutz of the Year" award. Can you beat this?

When things don’t go your way, don’t get bent out of shape. Just go with the flow and let God use you in the way He wants.

Resolutions

I am happy to report that I kept ALL 8 of my New Year's Resolutions for 2012!  Unfortunately, after memorizing the book of James by June 2012, I have forgotten it already.  I still remember the concepts but not word for word.  I will post ones for this year soon--I wrote them on my calendar.  Did you make any?

No Internet Connection

Yesterday and today when we opened Firefox, instead of our ATT email page we got a goofy message that we do not have an Internet connection. Then have to hit "connect" and then have to enter our modem access code that is on back of our DSL modem. (After this happening twice, I wrote it down.) Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know what's going on? We never got this message before in the whole five years we've had the computer.

The Titanic

Before I read I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912 by Lauren Tarshish,I didn't realize how big it was! It was like a palace, 11 stories high and only 16 lifeboats. After this event, it became law for ships to have lifeboats enough for all crew and passengers.  If you like to read, be sure to look at Our Favorite Reads for December and 2012 for some great book recommendations--both fiction and non-fiction.

A New Year Begins!

Me with our pets (Manny joined us too on that corner table shortly after this was taken.
By then Gerard was back to reading so didn't want to disturb him again to take the picture.
It rained all day so that ruined my plans for being active. My activity consisted of grocery shopping and walking back and forth to the buffet breakfast at Hometown Buffet. Gerard walked Abby in the rain alone.  Abby was thrilled with her New Year's Day bone.

We were going to go bowling but decided not to when we called to find out it now costs $3.75 per game!  We considered going to see "True Grit" but decided since it was raining, we could just watch a movie at home--we have a couple passes to a theater we never been to before.  Our big fun activity was playing rummy which Gerard won 500-490. It was fun because the lead kept going back and forth.

I continued my sedentary lifestyle by blogging, reading, enjoying our pets and making a vlog book (click the link to watch) review for A Closer Look At The Evidence by Richard and Tina Kleiss with Spunky sitting right next to me in the chair while I pet her! That was amazing--what a great way to start off the new year!

We finished out the evening watching TV: Gerard watched the Bruins and I watched "Eloise At Christmas" for the second time. I like it! Then I started watching Oprah's new channel (OWN) and fell asleep on the couch with Manny laying on me. How did you spend the first day of 2011?

World Kindness Day—To Help Or Not To Help?

November 13 is officially designated as “World Kindness Day.” Now, I try to be kind every day and since I read One Simple Act—Discovering The Power Of Generosity by Debbie Mecomber, I try to be even a little kinder.

However, last Thursday on my way to the bus stop, at the corner of my street was an elderly gentlemen who called me over saying he needed my help. I noticed his car was parked in front of the Mower repair shop with the trunk open. I asked what he wanted but he just kept telling me to come over and help him. He shuffled along as he walked which reminded me of my dad. I said I was on my way to catch a bus and again asked him what he wanted. He just repeated to come over and help me, it’ll only take a minute.

At this point, I just wasn’t sure I had a minute. Here are the thoughts going through my head:
(1) I should be willing to sacrifice my agenda and time to help someone.
(2) Why won’t he tell me what he needs?
(3) Women get abducted all the time, this could be a ploy to get me into his car.
(4) What if I go over and he throws me into the trunk?
(5) I might miss my bus, it could come any minute.
(6) If I don't help, I'm not being like the "good Samaritan."
