4 Things I Learned This Week #88 (Thumblebus, blogging, memory, books

Thumblebus

At Christian Mommy Writer I found out what aThumblebus is. Have you ever heard of it? It's a gutted school bus that has been filled with playground type things to amuse children.

Blogging Challenge

Thanks to Kristin-The Goat's comment on my "Why Do I Blog? Good Question" post, I learned that tons of people participate in National Blog Posting Month (NaBlPoMo) which is a challenge to write one blog post a day for a month and the official month for that is November.

Libraries

Over at Reading Teen I found a very funny video made by librarians called "Libraries Will Survive." I was going to embed it here but thought the Reading Teen should get the credit for it so just gave you the link. It's worth the visit.

Memory Loss

By reading Flight to Heaven by Capt. Dale Black,I learned that "Often people with head trauma may remember events, but they will not remember the faces of the people in the events. Another type of amnesia, called source amnesia, is when people can recall certain information, but they don't know where or how they obtained the information. Since different parts of the brain store different types of memories, the more pervasive the damage, the more types of memories are affected."

Eep, I was born with "source amnesia"! lol! Actually, I think part of the reason I don't remember things is because I'm not paying enough attention. If you like this kind of research, you may like a book called "Who Switched Off My Brain?" by Dr. Caroline Leaf. It's very interesting.

And I had NO IDEA about the thumblebus! When I was a kid, we used to sneak over to the junkyard that had a lot of junked school buses. We would climb into the bus and pretend to drive and etc.

I hadn't heard about the NaBlPoMo before but I signed up to participate in the NaNoWriMo - to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. I don't know what I was thinking!

Thanks for the mention! I didn't know about the blogging challenge. That sounds fun.

Love your Friday Fragments! Good clean fun! I like the idea of listing things you have learned. Mine was a little unfocused, but this was my first week. I'm visiting other FF Blog Hoppers and getting some great ideas.

I do Nablopomo each month. The official month is November, but they provide the challenge all year round now. FYI. :)

Rebecca: I find the brain amazing! Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll look that up.

Lin: Glad you like!

Heather: Glad you checked out the Thumblebus and found it interesting.

Beaded Tail: LOL, good luck with that!

Tonya: That blogging challenge sounds like too much work to me. Oh, I listed the link to the Thumblebus post in Saturday Samplings over at Half Past Kissin' Time.

Jean: I tried to visit your blog but couldn't from here. It said your Blogger profile wasn't public.

Oh, I never knew what a thumblebus was either. What a great idea and I love the word!

Wow, a post a day! I've been doing two a week and I might do some extras at the moment but one a day is too much for me.
