Why We Don't Have Flowers On Our Table

This is a fall flower arrangement of fake flowers that Gerard brought down from the top of the curio cabinet and put on our dining room table. I didn't say anything, but every day the cats would be chewing on it and pulling out the leaves and flowers. Of course when I got the camera out, Spunky got out of the flowers but she did have her whole head in a nice hole in the arrangement that she made by pulling some of the fake flowers out.

Manny liked them too and helped spunky Doodle slowly dismantle the arrangement a little at a time from the other side. Finally, when Gerard got a piece from under the table stuck in the vacuum cleaner (which is probably why the belt broke), I just put them back up on the curio cabinet where I had them before and explained why to Gerard. The cats enjoyed them for a couple weeks at least but I thought I better rescue the arrangement before it was all torn apart.

Can you have flowers out in your house? The cats would still like it on the table. What do you say I should do?

Yup! Our cat is the SAME way! And my husband naively ordered pointsettas from the boyscouts and I was like 'what were you thinking?? They're poison!'

We used to have a golden retriever who would try to do the same thing. Needless to say, it looked hilarious...BUT....

We're getting a puppy in a few weeks. I hope he's a little more calm!

That is SO funny! We do have flowers on the table. But you can barely see them because of all the paperwork and mail and oh, wait, if you do see them, and you look closely, you will see that they are all DEAD! Must buy new ones ASAP! Thanks for reminding me!

I didn't have this problem when I had cats (I'm now highly allergic). I guess I was lucky. I had lots of silk flowers too. Only one I could keep alive back then. I'd always forget to water the real ones. :(

Have a terrific day. :)

Okay this made me laugh and laugh because we have the same problems with any kind of flower arrangements!

Oh, I HATE when they do that! Grace isn't too bad, but Hobbes is a naughty boy with flowers--both real and fake. Ugh. He also has a fascination with a twig basket I have with a robin's egg inside. He's broken it into a billion pieces and chases it all over the house. I finally had to put it up. UGH. Worse than kids!

Yaya: Oh no! Hope you got rid of it. I'm sure the cat will find it anywhere in the house. Poor hubby, he meant well!

Michele: Didn't know dogs went for flowers, Abby doesn't anyhow. I doubt if a puppy will be calm, good luck with that!

Daisy: Oh, so do Spunky and Manny, but they'll settle for the fake ones in the absence of real ones.

Life with Kaishon: LOL, you didn't notice your flowers were dead? Sounds like you don't really have room for flowers on that table.

Carol: Yeah, I thought so too.

Sandee: Yes, you were lucky. My husband loves real flowers but my cats would not only chew the leaves but also drink the water!

Health Nut Wannabe Mom: Glad you're back! Missed you!!! Glad I could give you a laugh today. Guess it is a common cat behavior.

Lin: Hobbes and Spunky I think could be great friends! Spunky loves to knock things around too. I can certainly see why Hobbes would be attracted to the little egg and the twigs.

I can so relate to this. When we had our cat (he ran away) we couldn't put up our Christmas tree until December 24. He decided he needed to climb that tree. This year we have a hampster. So... no worries there.

If I catch my cat on the table, he has such an incredibly guilty look - he KNOWS I am about to toss him off!
