Every Saint Has A Past . . . Every Sinner Has A Future

I am not big on poetry, but this one my cousin emailed to me got my attention. I don't know the author and if you've already seen it, I apologize but I thought it was worth posting.

BEST POEM IN THE WORLD (author unknown)

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp--
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.

Herb, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, “What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.

And why's everyone so quiet,
So somber - give me a clue.”
“Hush, child” He said, “they're all in shock.
No one thought they'd be seeing you.”

JUDGE NOT

Remember...Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car ..

Every saint has a PAST...Every sinner has a FUTURE!

No one can be good enough to get to heaven and no one can be too bad that they can't get there because where we spend eternity is not based on what we do, but on who we know because of God's grace and mercy.
(Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace ye are saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast.
(KJV)

As Christians, we must be kind to everyone and show love even to our enemies. We cannot expect everyone to live by God's standards if they do not know him.

Karen,
I love all your posts but this is one of my favorites. The poem was so wonderful and your comments afterward are so important. We must never, ever forget to be kind. As Christians, we should set a good example and not run around being harsh and critical and judgmental.
Thank you for an important Sunday reminder.

I love this post because it teaches judge not lest you be judged.

This poem is fantastic! And how true it is! We are so quick to see other's faults & place judgement on them when we're walking around with the same weight of sin.

God loves and forgives. He doesn't see our faults... and we should have the same approach as He. Only our beloved Lord and Savior can judge.

Thanks for sharing this poem!

Glad you all liked the poem and took time to leave me some feedback about it.

Mountain Woman: Glad you liked the poem! I have a tendency to be critical sometimes and this poem was a good reminder for me as well.

DeAna: We do need to remember that God created and loves everyone.
