6 Things I Learned in Week 9 of 2009

Web Sites

It's absolutely free to list items to sell on Craig's List. I just found this out when reading www.craigs list posting tools.info.

When participating in discussions on www.zootoo.com, I discovered a new site, www.catchannel.com where you can create a CAT FANCY cover with a picture of your cat! This is one I did with Spunky Doodle.

Today when I visited Kids Are My World I learned where to get those little animated pictures that I sometimes see on others blogs. Personally, I find them a bit distracting after awhile and I don't think I'll be adding any because you do have to download their program, but I may change my mind about that at some point. Anyhow, here is the site: SweetIM.

Household Tip

I finally found out how to get my faucets to sparkle and get rid of the soap scum and grunge from The Modern Mom. She recommends using sponge and dab full-strength fabric softener (she uses Downy) on stained areas. Let sit for 15 minutes, then wipe with a damp cloth.

"My Funny Dad, Harry"

When I went on www.shelfari.com this week I checked to see who read the book I wrote, "My Funny Dad, Harry" and to see if they wrote any reviews on it. I was pleased and surprised to find out that several had it on their shelves with a little heart on it which means they marked it as a favorite! That really made me feel good that even people I don't know personally liked it that much. Shelfari is a great site for readers. You can search for a book and find out who else on there read it and what they thought about it. You can also discuss it with others either through notes to them or in discussion groups.

John Grisham

I was surprised to learn that John Grisham's book, "Innocent Man" is non-fiction. It's about several men being wrongfully convicted for murder. I learned that if ever I get arrested, I shouldn't say anything without an attorney present. This is a very sad book. This is why I am against the death penalty!

Karen,
The tip on faucets was really fascinating. I've never heard of that before and I'm going to try it.
Personally, I don't like Craig's List. The people using it are allowed to vote off ads. I put an ad up to sell a saddle and it got removed. I went back to read the comments and a lot of people have mean things to stay so I don't ever go there any more. Perhaps your town is friendlier than ours.
I've got to get over to Shelfari and review your book. Thanks for reminding us about this site.
I'm a big John Grisham fan!

That Grisham book sounds interesting. We just got our Kindle reader yesterday! I wonder if your book is on the list of Kindle books?

Thanks for visiting my blog first and then for the comments :-). I learned a lot from reading your posts. I will try the fabric softener and also keep in mind not saying anything without a lawyer present :-). Have a nice one!

Funny, I was logged on with my friend's (Juliet)account fixing her account when I wrote this comment, so just copied and pasted it here again :-).

Karen, thanks for all the tips. I have been struggling to get all my work down and all the wonderful blogs I like to read, read, so I haven't been here often.

Still, today, I am able to do the photo meme, of which I will mention your site.

Spunky Doodle, that is just so cute, do you really call the cat that?

One of my 2 cats sits at my feet all the time while I'm at home on the PC. One thing I like about him is he is just as obedient as a dog.

Modern Mom--You seem to have helpful tips! I forgot to ask my husband to get some fabric softener, maybe I'll get some to tomorrow. Our bath faucet has a lot of crust caked on it that I'd really like to get off.

Mountain Woman--I never heard that about Craig's List before--how goofy! Are you on Shelfari now? Be sure to send me a friend request if you are.

Daisy--I don't know if my book is on Kindle or not. I remember getting an email I think from my publisher about getting it in there but I don't remember if I did or not. Let me know if you find it on there.

Sandee--Spunky Doodle got a kick out of it!

Cecil--Glad you like reading my posts.

Day Photo--I know how that is, so many good blogs around and so little time! I really have to force myself to step away from the computer and actually do something else. I am planning to watch a movie tonight that I taped.

Alan--Yes, we call our Tuxedo cat Spunky Doodle. I first named her Spunky and Gerard started calling her Doodle so we just combined it into one name, thus Spunky Doodle. We had her since she was a kitten. She usually lays under the chair by the heater and watches me while I'm on the computer. Manny usually lays either under the piano bench right behind me or under the table to my left. Manny is under the piano bench now but I don't know where Spunky Doodle is at the moment. Manny just got up and came over so I can pet him. Must have known I was writing about him!

I read The Innocent Man a couple months ago as part of a book club I participate in. I was also very surprised to learn it was non-fiction. It doesn't read as non-fiction. Very sad but very good book. Off to check out your book now.
