Melissa: They are endangered, I think the docent told us there were only about 100 in all the zoos across the USA. They are very cute but look more like raccoons than panda bears.

Your post reminds me of a chapter from "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" that I just finished re-reading. So many embarrasing things happen to us - especially as children. But what is a traumatizing memory for us likely is something that those around us hardly even remember. I'm glad you shared your experience in order to point out the possibilities to others who might find themselves in a similar situation - either as the adult or the child.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I had a similar accident and I'm not sure if it's any worse than your experience. I had gotten my period early (sixth grade) and was just getting used to how much protection I'd need. I didn't have enough one day. Soaked through my skirt and onto the seat. I managed to get a sweater and wrap it around my waist, but the damage was done. Many students saw what happened. I was humiliated and pretend, to this day, that no one remembers it. I pray they don't.

Good grief cabs are expensive!

My parents dog got sprayed by a skunk and I PRAY that it never happens again... because he got sprayed and then proceeded to run through the house getting skunk smell everywhere. Ugh it was foul! He's an Old English Sheepdog so we called the groomer and asked if they dealt with that stuff and they said yes but they usually shave them first. We said "PLEASE DO!!!"

I loved the Little House series and show--we were all glued to the TV when it was on. I didn't realize Willie was her brother, but I did know she had a tough time. I'm glad she wrote a book; I'm sure it will be well-received.

Fortunately, I've not needed skunk spray remedies :)

What a cutie. The holidays with dogs are so much fun. Just wait until Christmas.
Something you might want to consider is having you and Abby certified as a "therapy team." I did this with my goldens and newfie and we used to visit nursing homes and pediatric wards in costume on the holidays. It's not hard to do and a great way to spread cheer. If you want to do it and need advice where to start, email me.

I'm so very sorry to hear the information about your youth pastor. I think of all the things that happened that day that must have been the most upsetting.
