Prioritizing Usually Relieves Stress But Not Always

I think I am generally good at prioritizing.  I do this both at home and at work frequently.  However, what gets me stressed out is when I am working at finishing one high priority item and another comes up of even greater importance, and then another and pretty soon I feel swamped with three or four high priority items all at once.  Fortunately, this doesn't happen often or I'd be a nervous wreck!  It did happen three days last week though right after returning to work from a week's vacation.

So, how did I re-prioritize the tasks?  I prioritized them based on the deadlines and did first what only I could do.  The things I could let someone help with I did last and put off until the next day whatever I could.

Here is my results of the blogthings quiz that answers the question, What Do You Prioritize? followed by my reaction to the statements.

You Prioritize Principles

When making a big decision, you turn to the moral guidelines that you follow. You trust them to show you what's right.  [ABSOLUTELY TRUE]

Whether you're religious or simply philosophical, you have an ethical framework that you're serious about following.  [yes]

When it comes to what's right, you don't think things are as gray as they seem. People just want to avoid doing what they need to do. [YES]

It isn't easy to behave ethically, and that's why you put so much emphasis on it. You think people should be recognized more for upstanding behavior.  [Not really, just think people should do what is right because it's the right thing to do, not for recognition.]

Those who don't know you well may call you obstinate and inflexible, but little do they know how much flexibility your ideas about morality give you.  [What?]

By having a clear idea of what is right and wrong for you, you trust yourself to be adventurous and open. You know you'll stick to your guns when you need to.  [Yes.]

Whether it is organize or prioritize, I do it. My OCD wont allow for leaving something undone. I just jump in and do it!

I tend to get overwhelmed with too many priorities so try to finish what can be completed first. It's nice to mark things off the list! The trouble comes during tax season when I have so many returns to do and they are all due on the same day!

When making a big decision, you prioritize the bottom line. You can't deny that money makes the world go round.

It's not that you're particularly greedy - you just understand how things work. And you need power to be able to do what you want.

When it comes to what's right, you put your own needs and wants first. Because no one else is going to!

You will take care of others the best you can, but you take care of yourself first. You want to operate from a position of strength.

Those who don't know you well may call you greedy or evil, but they're missing how responsible and conscientious you are.

If everyone in the world took care of themselves as well as you do, there would be a lot fewer problems to solve.

Yep, this is me. I knew it before I took the test.

Have a terrific day. :)
