5 Things We Learned This Week (animals, pets, life, food)

Friday Fragments is hosted by Unknown Mama for bloggers to post a list of short things on their minds that aren't really enough for a whole post to give Mrs. 4444 a break for the summer. Here we go:

Turtles

Painting a turtles shell is harmful to them so Never Paint on a Turtle.  I learned this from a turtle blog called "Underneath the Shell" where you can find out more.

Poop Tip

Using a zip-lock plastic bag for the cat and dog poop keeps the stinky smell trapped in the bag. See "Yes, "Pack It Out" of the Wilderness Means Your Poop Bags Too" about being a responsible pet owner. This blogger even picks up others poop!

Weigh In

Our Spunky Doodle went from being obese down to heavy at 11 pounds. At least we are heading in the right direction, but the vet said her ideal weight is 9.5 lbs. I'm already barely feeding her as it is, only about 1/8 cup of dry food per day!  Her blood work came back good and no parasites, yippee!

Email Aggravation

When I went to access my Spunky Doodle email account, I got this message:

AT&T Service Suspension Alert
AT&T Yahoo! services suspended

You no longer have access to your AT&T Yahoo! account spunkydoodle@sbcglobal.net because your ATT Yahoo! Internet services have been suspended. If you are under 13 years of age, your parents need to re-approve your access to your email account and other ATT online services. Your parents can log in with their User ID (gkzemek@sbcglobal.net) to give that approval.

This is the one we use for our book blog and which gets requests for book reviews. I was able to get it reset but then a few days later, it came up again and I couldn't get it to reset. I called ATT technical support and after spending at least 20 minutes, mostly on hold, Vanessa said she would escalate it and I should be fixed in 24-48 hours! I told her to change it from a child's account and gave her my birth date instead of my cat's.

This was Wednesday and it is STILL not working!  GRRRR!  The Good news is that it finally was fixed as of Sunday!  Yea!!!

Good Treats for Dogs

According to the summer 2013 issue of "DogFancy's Natural Dog" blueberries and cranberries can benefit dogs. It said 2 or 3 berries are great for a small dog, a 50-pound dog could have a dozen. I'm going to check with our vet though first before letting our dog have any. So far, we only give her a little peanut butter once in a while.

OH I love Spunky Doodle...very pretty kitty!!

I hope that email account is cleared up. Soon!! Personally, I really detest anything about AT&T.

The email account matter sounds very frustrating!!! Grr. Hope it gets straightened out soon! And the poop thing is very true----be responsible, people! When we were hiking last week on a levee in Wyoming there were Mutt Mittens and trash cans at the start of it. with signs saying "please pick up after your dogs". Well guess what? Despite the convenience of grabbing a bag and having a place to put it after walking we spent the entire hike dodging piles. If I had picked them all up I would have filled a garbage truck!!! Gross!

Spunky Doodle is a very pretty girl indeed. I'm glad she's getting her weight back where it should be.

I hate it when you can't access your email. Hate it. I hope this gets worked out soon.

Have a terrific day and weekend. ☺

Don't you just hate it when things don't work like they are supposed to. Hope it's fixed before long.

That is a bummer about your email problems! When my human sets up accounts for me online, she puts in my age in cat years, so I have always been over 13 according to them!

Paws up on Spunky's Weight Loss Challenge. I am sure if you stay on track she will eventually lose the rest of the pound and a half she needs.

Oh goodness, I so understand the customer service frustration. I had the same sort of experience this week about cell phone issues. Still unresolved. What if you switched over to a gmail account with the same name? You would only have to reset your email links on the website??

Poor Spunky Doodle :-( Being forced onto a diet is so miserable. So even the vets expect anorexic cats?? Good grief :-(

It is sooooo hard to put a beloved vet on a diet....we had to do that with our big lab and I felt like I was starving him!

So irritating about your email!

Spunky Doodle is looking good. My fur beast dog was on a diet, and he lost five pounds over the past four months. The vet said he looks great. My dog eats a small taste of peanut butter at night, usually on a frozen small chunk of banana. He goes wild for that.

Why would anyone want to paint a turtle's shell?

I did not know that turtles could not be painted! Not that I've ever painted one but it's good information.

I love that they had your account set up as a child's because of your cat's bday -- haha!

Hope your weekend was great!
