How To Get Your Cats To Come

The video above shows five different ways I use to get my cats to come. Note, not all cats will respond to all these ways. Both my cats, (Spunky Doodle and Manny Boy) come when I rattle their food bags or when I eat fish. Spunky Doodle will respond to the noise the buttons make on the phone and when I turn on the shower. Manny likes when I lay on the couch to watch TV. He'll usually come and lay on my legs. His favorite shows are "Survivor," "Parenthood," and "The Biggest Loser."

If they do not come when I do these things, I know something must be wrong and start checking the closets.

What do you do to get your cats to come?

That was a great video. My cats come when I get out their food and some times just when I call them.

They come when I call them because they think they are going o eat again.

None of my cats like or will eat treats so it's difficult to teach them tricks. They efinitely have a mind of their own.

Spunky doodle looks just like my daughter's cat Ursula and Mannie? looks like our cat Monkey.

I think it's funny Spunky comes when you're on the phone!

Happy day to all of you!:-)

I don't have cats as I'm highly allergic, but when I did it was usually the food can or bag. I had one cat that just followed me everywhere I went. Always. It was awesome.

Have a terrific day. Scritches to all the babies. :)

Great video. My Charlie responds to a high pitched whistle, and Pepper to the rattle of the treats. I did used to have a cat called Leopold who would do anything and everything to distract me if I dared to use the phone!

We generally come when called - because when my human calls us, there is usually something good in store for us!

One thing that will get me to come RUNNNG is when my human holds out the brush! I LOVE being brushed!

That was a cute video! Our cats follow us around or are always in the same room but if not, they'll come when called. Of course opening a can of stinky goodness will work when they don't come any other way. Isn't it wonderful when they sit on your lap?

Grace will usually come when called, but not Hobbes as much. Treats are always good to get them I've found.

Both of my cats are sooooo spoiled!!! I know, I know! It is my fault! They both are pretty similar---they come running when they hear me getting into the lazy susan in the kitchen because that is where their treats are. They also run when the shower turns on. Shower water is so much better than the water in their ever flowing fountain. They also run when I open the door to the sunroom--their favorite room even now when it is so cold they longingly look at the door .....silly things.

I once had a cat that came running whenever he heard the can opener. That was back when we had to open cat food cans by hand or by the machine!

Livvy comes running whenever she hears the squeaky entrance door opens. She wants to get out!

Yep rattling the treat bag usually would get Harvey to come as well.

Wonderful cat photos on here! The food rattling always works with mine. And crumpling up a small paper ball toy. (He's like Pavlov's dog with that one.) But he also knows his name. Except when I call it, he only comes when he feels like it.
