7 Friday Fragments

Friday Fragments is hosted my Half-Past Kissin' Time for bloggers to post a list of short things on their minds that aren't really enough for a whole post. Here we go:

☻Last Saturday when we visited The Pleasant Care Center at Legacy Place, one of the residents told me how much she enjoyed reading My Funny Dad, Harry (the book I wrote in his memory). She isn't a reader and usually doesn't finish books, but she had a hard time putting this one down and loved it. She even enjoyed reading about his cats and she isn't a cat lover. It makes me so happy when I hear people enjoyed the book and feel as though they knew my dad too. He was a wonderful man! The book is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Click the link to read customer reviews (21). It comes in paperback or available on Kindle.

☻ Work was crazy hectic this week so I feel very productive.

☻ The sun has been shining most of this week AND temperatures are back on the rise! I feel so much better when the sun is out!

☻Our dog, Abby, is getting ten laser therapy treatments to help rebuild cells in her hips and knees to lessen the pain of her arthritis. The sessions are short and painless. We have a short video I'll get posted one of these days.

☻ Our church is doing the NOT A FAN DVD study. Some of the questions in the journal we are supposed to do every day are very pointed and really helps me reflect on my relationship with Jesus; on the other hand, some things like imagining him sitting next to me and sing a song to him are pretty ridiculous. I'm trying to do everything they suggest to give it a fair shot and try to get as much from it as I can. Are you familiar with this study? If so, we would like to hear your thoughts about it.

I go for blood work tomorrow in preparation for my bone and CT scan--the insurance will cover it. Oh, and I got a new prescription from my doctor that is supposed to help strengthen my bones: Actonel. The good news is that I only have to take it once a month! I'll take it the same day I give my pets their revolution so I'll remember it.

☻ The audio book Gerard is listening to and loving this week is "The Fifth Witness" by Michael Connelly.

I like reading that the meds you're now on is a once a month Rx. That, I think even I could handle. Hope they work wonders for you.

And a book....you authored a book? How incredible.

That's interesting. I didn't know about the laser treatment available for arthritis in pets.

I hope the Actonel does wonders for you, and has no bad side effects!

I hope your doggie gets better. It makes me sad to see them in pain.
I love Michael Connelly books. I'm reading that one too. Don't spoil the ending!

Let us know about the treatment for Abby. Our Little Bit is having the same issues.

I'm glad you're on medication for your bones. Really important as we age.

Have a terrific day and weekend. :)

Wow. A book about your dad. When I have time I will look for it.

Can you tell if the treatments are helping Abby yet? It's good you found a pill for your bones that won't bother you and hopefully it helps. I'm pretty positive that even Jesus wouldn't want to hear me sing to him! lol

Good luck on your CT scan. In these days it's wonderful thing when insurance covers it. Thank God. Your book sounds lovely. How wonderful that you and your husband go to the adult homes to spend time with people.

Does that help build bone density or just avoid losses? I am hoping all the testing goes well and the results will help hone treatment.

How cool is that to meet a fan?? I used to dream of writing a book. It's much harder to actually do it ;-)

I have never done the book study, but if you think about it, Jesus is always with you and I am sure you have sung praise songs before...I do agree that visualizing that scenario would feel awkward to me too.

Wonderful about your book!
Hope you and your pet get great results from your treatments.
No I don't know about that study, I go to "Know Your Bible" under CWCI an international group.

Thanks for all your comments! Regarding Abby, I'm going to take a video of her going up and down our basement stairs today and then do it again at the end of her 10 treatments to see if there's any noticeable difference. Then I'll do a post about this experience. Stay tuned! Her treatments are twice a week so It'll probably be up the second week of December.

My book came out October of 2007 (the year my dad died). I'm just bad about promoting it. I appreciate any help my blogging buddies can give by sharing their reviews of it on their blogs and other reader sites like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads and Shelfari.

Tami, Don't worry, Gerard didn't give away the ending. His review of it is up now at www.ourstack.blogspot.com.

I wish you could fast forward to the Answers part of your tests, Karen.

A family member gets laser for her old golden every week. She said it works well but wears off.

I love that you approach that exercise with an open heart. I think it would be easier to tell Jesus a joke than to sing to him, and I think he'd appreciate the joke just as much.haha

Have a great weekend...

I took Actonel for about 6 years and it really helped me.

I've not heard of that Bible study. It sounds interesting.

Poor Abby. Hip & knee problems would be awful. I hope the laser treatments help.
