Friday Fragments From Me and My Hubby

Friday Fragments is hosted my Half-Past Kissin' Time for bloggers to post a list of short things on their minds that aren't really enough for a whole post. Here we go:
  1. Heart Attacks

According to last Friday's Free Kibble game, cat owners are 40% less likely to have heart attacks than non-cat owners (yet another good reason to adopt a cat!) I was surprised that percentage was so high. I wonder if you have two cats, if it would go up to 80%?
  2. Fall Festival

We donated candy and now we are off today so we can do our Saturday "run-around" so can can help set up and run games at Parma Heights Baptist Church fall festival. Lots of kids come in from our community and I always enjoy seeing their costumes and chatting with the parents. It's a fun day with lost of high energy! If you are in the area, stop in anytime between 12:30 and 3:00. Related post from archives: Church's Fall Festival Brings Back Memories of Dad.

  4. Gorgeous Day

On my day off on Wednesday, we had a perfect weather day here in Cleveland and I debated, should I go to the zoo or take Abby to the park? The zoo won and I had a wonderful time taking pictures of the beauty of fall and I joined Abby and Gerard on the evening walk before going to my Love and Respect class. It was one of those days I hated to see end, in spite of having to take out an hour to go for a bone density test. If it hadn't been for that though, I would have been stuck inside at work most of the day!
  5. Cutest Post of the Week

I came across this cute photoshoot about cats and pumpkins over at Words, Words, Words called Naughtiness and Non-Cooperation that I hope you will check out after I spent about four hours trying to find it again to share it with you here. Out of desperation, I wrote a post asking for HELP!
  6. Browsing History

Okay, I knew the tab was there but really never used it before.  Kathy over at The Junk Drawer suggested I try it and just 20 minutes later, I found that post mentioned above. What a time-saver when you are trying to find something you read days before! Thanks, Kathy!

Yesterday, Gerard told me he wished he had a blog of his own. The problem is that it would be me doing all the posting for him and it would be another one for me to promote and maintain. That is why I welcome him to contribute here. It also helps me have something to post usually five times a week and provides an activity we can enjoy together. He had a lot on his mind this week so here are some more Fragments from my husband
  1. No Ice Hockey

I really miss the Bruins playing hockey! The only bright side to this is that we are saving on our DirectTV bill.
  2. Into the Fire--audio book

    Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has a new CD out. I love her music!

  3. Audio Books

I am listening to my first audio book in the car on my way to and from work. I love it! Audio books rock! Karen doesn't care for them. Do you use them?
  4. Going Digital

NEWSWEEK magazine has decided to go all digital. Newspapers and magazines will soon be all gone. This is sad.
  5. NFL Overtime Rule

I hate the new NFL overtime rule where both teams have to get the ball. It takes the excitement of the sudden death out of it.
  6. Laser Therapy

Our vet offers laser therapy for dogs that is supposed to help lessen the pain of arthritis. Has anyone tried it on their dog and do you think it helps?
  7. Presidential Debates

Do you think all these presidential debates are really needed? I think most people will not be swayed by who won or lost the debate. Am I right? I don't bother watching at all, do you?

Covered in Grace
I chose this as my best post of the week for Monday Meet Up linky party.

Just stopped by from Friday Fragments...I'm with your hubs on the magazine thing. I don't like reading a magazine in digital format. A magazine needs to be held in your hand!

Re-debates...I think the first debate actually did sway voters since it was the first time many got to actually hear/see Romney for themselves. The others, eh. My preference would be no moderator, just a time keeper. Let the candidates go back and forth without a moderator. And a trap door...if you run over you drop through the floor : )

I MISS HOCKEY. I swear I am going thru withdrawal. Lucky for me, my 15 year old plays ice hockey. I can get a fix on the weekends.

Hi Guys,

That's a cool idea that you're sharing the blog :) Sometimes I think my Mum would like to share my blog with me, but no way - who knows what she'd write!! Tee Hee

Wags to all,

Your pal Snoopy :)

nah - I dont bother with the debates. Like you said, I know who I'm voting for.

Wonder what the percentage is for DOG owners? I have 4... should I live to 125 yr old?

I'm glad you found the site you lost. It's a cute post indeed.

I didn't watch the debates as I knew who I was voting for before the debates. I've not changed my mind after the debates either.

Have a terrific day. :)

I'm glad you found the post you were looking for! It's pretty cute! Yay for a lovely day off work too! It's fun that you two are sharing the blog. I don't like reading magazines on digital so hope others don't do the same. I hadn't heard of laser therapy for dogs either. Sounds like another money maker for vets.

My Mommeh really enjoys watching the debates, but anyone interested enough to watch probably already has his or her mind made up!

If your cat arithmetic worked, then 3 cats and you would live forever. Maybe there is sharing of the nine lives.
My wife loves audio books. Myself - they are ok for long trips.
Debates - I wish they could replace political ads with just debates. I watch all of them. I do agree that most people at that point have their mind made up.

I'm glad you found the lost post the photos were adorable!
My dogs have not left my side for 3 days. Either they are happy I am home from my trip or they know a hurricane is on the way...or both:)
I watched all of the debates and took notes and tweeted the highlights. That aside I think they were quite boring and all of the moderators were horrible.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend..

Mr.4444's cousin takes her old golden for laser therapy weekly, and she says it makes a difference the day of the treatment but seems to wear off soon. She's happy to be able to give her dog some comfort, though.

I really enjoy audio books in the car now and then but feel they cause me to lose touch with what's going on in the news, since I usually listen to AM radio in the car.

I wasn't aware of the new NFL rule. Hm.

Glad the two of you are enjoying your volunteering so much; that makes it a win-win :)

The cats and pumpkins post was cute. Wow--Those cats aren't going hungry, are they? Good thing they're getting outside a little bit :)

The browsing history idea was brilliant!

Thanks for linking up, Karen; I always enjoy visiting your blog. Have a great weekend.

I hear some people giving Taylor Swift a hard time but I admire her for writing her songs. I hope she never gets a big head & worldly from her success.

Fortunately we don't have these presidental debates, it looks like two wrestlers in a ring !

Gerard-I just recently tried audiobooks for the first time. I really like them for my commute to work. I don't have a long commute so it takes me a great while to get through one book, but I love it all the same. The traffic can be really bad on my way home, so having a story to listen to helps my drive be less frustrating! :)

I think I will miss the printed pages of magazines but I can understand why they want to go digital in this digital world we live in.

I think in the past the debates were necessary but as society changes to not care so much about what they're actually saying I think we can find a new venue. I just wish that they could create some sort of standard for the ad campaigns :-(
