6 Friday Fragments

Friday Fragments is hosted my Half-Past Kissin' Time for bloggers to post a list of short things on their minds that aren't really enough for a whole post. Here we go:

  1. Shakespeare Made Easy

While reading about Tony Danza's rookie year of teaching 10th grade English, I learned there is a website that actually gives modern English versions of Shakespeare's works. He used it to help him teach that unit. I was curious so checked out No Fear Shakespeare and found it also includes some other literature as well.
  2. Note Card Pary

    A Haven for Vee
This week I found just what I need, another blog hop! [sarcasm] This one though is just the third Wed. of the month so I think I may participate next month. All you do is choose for of your own pictures that you think would look good for note cards. This is hosted at A Haven for Vee.
  3. Giveaway

I entered a cat t-shirt giveaway at the Conscious Cat. Hope I win the ADOPT shirt that says "Those who say money can't buy happiness never paid an adoption fee." It was between that one and "Real Men Love Cats."
  4. No Easy Day

No Easy Day is The NEW YORK TIMES No. 1 book: the true story of the soldier who killed Bin Laden. My husband is looking forward to reading it.
  5. NFL Tickets

    Enjoying Football on DirectTV

The average price of an NFL ticket is $77.36 (for 8 home games and two pre-season games). I'll stick with the Direct TV NFL Sunday ticket where I can see all the games for $300 payable in 6 installments.
  6. Soda Pop in NYC

New York City has put a ban on 20 oz. soda pop drinks. No big deal to us since we live in Ohio and Gerard prefers 12 oz. cans anyway.

Why a ban on 20 oz. soda in NY. That seems odd to me I prefer bottles.
We used to get hockey season tickets but stopped when the last lock out happened. Just when we were thinking of buying season tickets again - WHAM - there is another lock out.

The government has no business banning any food or drink. It's none of their business what I eat or drink.

Have a terrific day and weekend. :)

I understand where the ban is coming from, but I think it's stupid. The book sounds very interesting.

The saying on that shirt about adoption is fabulous! I need to get my hubby a "Real Men Love Cats" shirt! I don't quite understand the ban because can't they just get two 12 oz cans instead and have 4 oz more pop? It's just silly. I'm on the fence about that book by the Navy Seal. I have a friend who's son is in the Navy so it's just kinda wrong to tell things that could put him or others in danger. If we lived near the Chiefs we'd go to every game no matter the cost! We went to a lot of games when we lived in KS and even flew back to several games at Arrowhead when we lived in Colorado. Now that was expensive but oh so fun!

I remember my Shakespeare reading was easier with Cliff notes.
I don't think the NYC ban on this will make any difference in consumption.

We are having a Tiniest Tiger bag give-away on Cat Chat if you want to enter

Banning one size of soda pop container makes absolutely no sense... but it must make the feel good to do 'something'... lol

Just ban all types of soda... problem solved!

I like being able to multi-task during a game, so I usually let Mr.4444 take someone else to the game. The atmosphere at a Green Bay game is something special, though, so I do like to go to at least one game per year.

Love the adoption shirt! :)

Have a great week, Karen.

I can't imagine spending $300 to watch NFL games. But I do love cats (although we don't have them since my wife is allergic).

I'd be saving a lot of money on NFL games--I never watch! Hahaha!

I don't like the ban on soda. I don't drink the stuff, but I don't think government has any say in this sort of thing.
