Abby Dabby Doo Gets Smiles at Pleasant Lake Villa

Visiting Pleasant Lake Villa for the First Time

Today I went to visit patients at Pleasant Lake Villa and most were happy to see me at this skilled care rehabilitation facility.  It is such a big place that we didn't even get to everyone in an hour and a half!  This is just my second time going to visit a place like this.

Where are you going, dad? (used by permission)

I especially liked visiting in the game room where the one lady even took my picture!  She let my mom take a picture of her and me too so I could show you.  She was so excited to see me.  I got to see lots of nice people who were eager to pet me and my mom brought along some treats that they could give to me after I sat nice for them to pet me because I like laying down a lot but then the people can't reach me..

See, she's not afraid of dogs now!  (used by permission)

There was a young girl who walked around with us, the daughter of one of the staff, who was afraid of dogs.  I noticed she didn't come pet me like most kids do but as we visited, she became braver and did pet me eventually.  My mom even let her give me a treat and she did!  She was a very nice girl and when we left, she said she wasn't afraid of dogs anymore!  That made us feel very good! I was glad I could who her there are nice dogs like me around.  Woof!  Woof!

What a wonderful thing to do Abby. You made so many smile today and me too. I'm also glad you got that cute girl to not be afraid of dogs anymore.

Have a woof woof day. My best to your mom. :)

It certainly was a wonderful thing to do, Abby. And it was a bonus to be able to help a young girl lose her fear of dogs. Of course, we think dogs are great, but some people don't know any better. I'm glad you let her follow you around until you had visited several people, so she would know you're a good dog.
Lindy and her daddy often stop to visit people who live at "The Manor" around the corner and down the street, but she isn't a certified therapy dog, so she can only visit the people who are sitting outside in nice weather.

Pleased to meet you Abby.
Bringing smiles to peoples faces is a wonderful thing. And that was especially nice of you to help the young girl overcome her fear do dogs.

that is a wonderful thing to do. My father-in-law who passed 2 yrs ago was in an Altzheimer's unit at Sunrise here in Michigan. We occasionally would bring Dakota to see the residents, as would other people with good dogs like yours and mine. The residents sure love it!
Have you ever thought of Abby becoming a certified therapy dog? If she were she could go to hospitals and all too!
