4 Things We Learned This Week (health, Marines NJ)

Friday Fragments is hosted my Half-Past Kissin' Time for bloggers to post a list of short things on their minds that aren't really enough for a whole post. Here we go:
Modern-Day Cannon--Marine's biggest weapon!
  1. Cats and Health

Having cats are amazingly good for your health - lowering blood pressure; stress, fewer strokes, heart attacks and less depression!
  2. There were signs like this at each different vehicle

    Marines

This was "Marine week," I learned that (1) most Marines like their camouflage uniforms best, (2) missiles can be fired with computers inside the truck, (3) the U.S. technology for weapons is very advanced, (4) it takes a missile to blow up a tank, (5) the biggest missile launcher that looks like a modern-day cannon can go as far as 2.6 miles. Watch for my post about Marine Week in Cleveland coming up soon!
  3. High Artillery Rocket System--fires rocket from inside truck with computer
  4. 25th Anniversary

Today is my 25th anniversary at work--the firm gave me a big basket of flowers that I put on our porch (because the cats would chew on the leaves) and a gift card!
  5. New Jersey

When playing Freekibble this week, I learned that in New Jersey, dogs riding in cars must use a seat belt! It's a $1,000 fine if they are not strapped in! Abby is glad we do not live in New Jersey.

WOW! Congrats on your 25th anniversary! And how nice that they acknowledged you. :)

I always strap in the cat carrier when we go in the car. I don't think it's such a bad idea when you consider how they would fly around in a crash.

I like your "things you learned" posts, Karen.

25 years, woohoo!!

Yeah, we in the northeast have a lot of crazy laws, for dogs AND people.

What a nice gift. It must be a nice company if you have stayed there that long.

I add my congratulations to the rest. They're right, it's pretty rare for folks to get to stay at the same place for that length of time. I'm glad they recognized that achievement!

My dog would have had a conniption if she'd had to be strapped in the car. I love these nanny laws!

Congratulations on 25 years! It's nice they acknowledged your anniversary too!

I saw a news story about how dogs become flying missiles in a car crash if not seat belted in so it sounds like a good idea but I don't know how much Sadie would like it. The seat belt for dogs they showed still let's them move around but they don't go flying forward if the car stops quickly. I wish there was a law to keep dogs out of the back of trucks. That always worries me so much.

25 years at the same place good for you.the lonest stint I worked anywhere was 15 years as a C.O. with the C.C.S.D.I would have worked longer but I had to take a disability retirement from there.

I'm glad your employer appreciates you. I'm sure you're a real asset to them.

I did not know those things about the Marines. Interesting.

The seatbelt fragment made me smile. You'll be glad to know that tonight I ordered a dog bed--yes, for our new puppies. It looks like we might be getting a white lab as soon as next week. Not sure yet, though, but we will definitely have two puppies this summer. I must be insane! :)
