A Child of the King

Today would have been my mom’s birthday but she’s in heaven with Jesus today. I remember though her telling me about how happy she was the day she trusted Jesus as her personal Savior as a little girl. She went to church with her best friend who invited her and became God’s child the day she believed Jesus died for her and rose again and asked Him to forgive her sin and come into her heart. She went home singing: I’m a child of the king, a child of the king, with Jesus my Savior; I’m a child of the king.

I love the fact that I know I will see her again because I am a child of God too. Although I miss my mom and often wish I could talk with her, I am so thankful she was my mom. She was such a giving and caring person who had a tremendous influence on me. Today I am helping with the fall festival at church by running games and handing out candy. If mom were still alive, she would probably like to come with me to see all the costumes the kids will be wearing.  She always liked to see the kids in their costumes on Halloween.

Happy birthday, mom! Miss you but look forward to seeing you again.  (She died at age 75 of congestive heart failure.)

I admire your admiration of your parents. You are truly blessed, Karen! I wish I had known your mom, I would have LOVED her! I will see her, too, when I get there-- so be sure to introduce me! ;)

I'm sure your mom is looking down from heaven to see all the good things you are doing here, Karen. She must be very proud. :)

Your mom had such a sweet smile. My mom's birthday just passed too, and I love to think of her being in Heaven and not having pain, and seeing so many dear people there. Looks to me that we will all have time to meet up and have some great times together.

Rebecca: I truly am blessed! I'll be happy to introduce you.

Sandee: Mom's are the best!

Lin: I wonder if people in heaven actually care anymore about what goes on on Earth. Somehow, I think it would be like watching TV--so inconsequential, but who knows?

Ann in the Up: I agree--it is nice to know she has a new body without any pain. Great thought about seeing all other believers there too one day. I love that song "When We All Get To Heaven."

SLColman: Not so much celebrate as just remember the good times we had and how much I miss her.

Those of us who had good relationships with our parents are so blessed. Not everyone can say the same thing and you wrote such a nice tribute to her. I know you miss her like I miss my dad but knowing that we will see them again when they are no longer in pain or hurting is a wonderful thing to know!!!!
