5 Things We Learned This Week 39 of 2011 (sports, animals, Google)

Lingerie Football

There is actually a Lingerie Football League where 7 women on each team play football in their underwear! I did a whole post about this here if you missed it.

Google Plus

My Google Plus account was suspended because I had my name as "Karen, Author of My Funny Dad, Harry." You have to use your real name. I'm sorry I even signed up for it because I use it so seldom. The only reason I'm staying on it, for now anyway, is that I like the +1 thingy. If I +1 on a post, it lists it in there so it's easy for me to refer back to it if I want.

Dogs

I'm reading Oogly by Larry Levin this week and learned that "there are many nerve endings in a dogs ears and that by rubbing them, one can relax the whole dog."  (My review should be up on our book blog this weekend.)

Choosing Pet Food

You should look at the AAFCO statement on the bag and choose the food that is specified for the life stage of your pet and that has been animal tested as opposed to formulated. I did a post about this on my other blog: Choosing Pet Food: I Like the Picture On The Bag. (Hopefully, I'll get one posted on this blog next week).

Cheerleaders

I attended a freshman football game yesterday and was pleased to see the cheerleaders are finally dressed sensibly! They used to always wear short short skirts with bare legs and low cut tops no matter what the weather. The ones I saw yesterday had slacks on, high necks and when it started raining, they put on clear ponchos! I say Yea for the cheerleaders for being so sensible. Now if they could learn to match their cheers with what is actually happening in the game, that would be tremendous! (Sorry no picture, didn't want to fuss with a camera at the game.)

Find more Friday Fragments at Half-Past Kissin' Time or link up some of your own. Share this:

I love it when you do your summaries.... Very nice. I'm gonna tell the boys that thing about a dog's ears... Maybe they can use it and rule the world.

The ear thing has definitely worked with calming my brothers dogs...

Lots of great info. I always like to hear about dog books. I tried to join that Google Plus but won't do that thing they want you to sign up for for the pictures. I don't do apps since that is the way people get your info. Take care.

Nice to know there are some sensible cheerleaders out there.

I avoid Google stuff. I think they are too nosy and want too much information. No love lost here.

Looking forward to the post about animal food. THere are too many choices at the stores and who knows what's good or not?

Love your cheerleader comments!!! Maybe they had some sensible moms out there or something!

ditto on the cheerleader comment!! i used to get as close as i could to them on game night and made fun of them the whole time. we had a crew that would heckle them during down moments of the game ;-)

good reminder on pet food. we had to be super careful with our large breed dog all through the growing process. his joints needed steady slow growth and now he needs special nutrition for his frame.

I wonder if that ear thingy works on hyper active grandkids?

Have a nice day Karen :-)

& BTW, thanks for your recent comment on my WCS post. ~Ron

Our Mommeh had no idea about pet nutrition until Harley got EGC a couple of years ago. After talking with our holistic vet and doing tons of research, she realized she had been feeding us all wrong. Cats are obligate carnivores!

It's been awhile since I've seen cheerleaders but it's good they are wearing more weather appropriate/sensible uniforms! I'm looking forward to your pet food post too. Sadie loves to have her ears rubbed!

Ugh. Don't get me started on the cheerleaders.

At our school, we have an administrator who stands by the door as the kids come in, and he calls out the girls who he feels are dressed inappropriately. Problem comes in that he is a jerk and never calls out the cheerleaders---EVER. I would think that the short skirts are fine for a game, but NOT for school.

Oh--it also bothers me that they have a man checking out the girl's attire. Isn't that just wrong???
