Soccer Is Harder Than I Thought! (Vlogging Workshop)

PHBC Childrens Workers Breakfast

I never played soccer because it wasn't popular at all when I was a kid, but since one of the workshops at The Childrens Workers Breakfast at our church offered some basic fundamentals for the four sports offered at our sports camp coming up June 20-23, 2011,

I gave soccer a try just to learn something new. I decided after doing flag football for two years, I'd like to try something different. I soon discovered that soccer was not it, but had a good time on basketball so plan to switch to coach basketball for sports camp this year.

I would like to share a few things that I learned in the soccer segment with you here that I thought you may find interesting or at the very least funny.  In the video, I demonstrate a running drill, aiming and kicking, stopping the ball and the head bump:

Oh my. Yes, please do not underestimate soccer. When our soccer player, DD3, was only in her third year of soccer, a game was canceled due to weather. The coach had us parents play the girls--the 8 year old girls. No problem...soccer is easy and they're only 8, right? WRONG! They kicked our butts. No pun intended. LOL

HI Karen, You are better than me..the closest I'd get to playing any sport is the sidelines where all the other fans watch. Plus I'd have knitting with me :) :) I'm glad you learned something. You are definitely much more skilled than I am at this :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

Good for you for getting in there!! You know why I don't play sports? I'm always the one who gets nailed in the head with the ball!

Those are great tips! I'm not much of a soccer player, but I've been to a lot of my niece's games!
