6 Things I Learned This Week-#83 (books, people, CommentLuv, Twitter, Bible)

Online Book Club

Over at Book Beginnings and Bookends, they are just starting a "book club" for bloggers to participate in online. I thought this sounded like it might be fun so went ahead and decided to give it a try. The first book they'll be discussing on Mondays is The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes. I'm enjoying it! Here's a link to my thoughts on the first 10 chapters.

CommentLuv for Blogger

At Basic Blog Tips there is a post with video on an easy way How To Install CommentLuv on Blogger. It involves replacing Blogger's default commenting system with intense debate system. If I ever get some extra free time, I think I'm going to try it and see if I can get it to work on my test blog. Before I go to all the trouble though, I'd really like to hear from my readers if it matters to you or not.

Josh Cribbs

Josh Cribbs, my favorite Browns player, reads the Bible and his motto is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."--Philippians 2:13

Debbie Macomber

I was surprised to learn that author Debbie Macomber also taught Sunday School and is familiar with AWANA--a club whose goal is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. I too was involved in AWANA for about 7 or 8 years I think and loved it!

Twitter

Thanks to The Dragon Blogger I learned that you can Create a Custom Twitter Newspaper that updates every 24 hours and arranges the tweets you follow into a newspaper type format. Pretty cool. I'm going to give this a try! Create your own Twitter newspaper at paper.li.

Gideon

Did you know what happened AFTER Gideon defeated the Midianites by obeying God? The Israelites wanted him to be king followed by his sons but Gideon declined. He got the gold earings though from the dead Midianites and built a statue which Israel began to worship and eventually they went back to worshiping Baal. After Gideon died, the Israelites were unkind to his family! Read about this in Judges 8. I just read this today. (Never realized all this before.)

THe other points are good, But if you don;t learn from Gideon, then all the other points are worthless.

BTW, I used to be an Awana leader, great stuff

#7. I learned about you and like how you spelled everything out. This a great way to share and teach at the same time, very cool.

I'm glad Ileane retweeted this post.

Twitter is a beneficial resource, honestly.

I love learning new things; thanks for the insight. I love book clubs too..right now I am still working on "being more like Mary in a Martha World"..did you know these sisters are only mentioned 3 times in the Bible? I was surprised because I had heard the story so many times.
Have a positive weekend and a productive week!
