Grab A Spoon And Meet For Ice Cream

A group of us from church through Facebook got together Monday night just to eat ice cream and chat. Nine of us met in the parking lot of a Giant Eagle near me (else I would not have gone) and went in together to buy a pint of ice cream each. When I saw the instructions to buy a pint, I was picturing a half gallon which is what we usually buy for a week! I thought no way would I eat a pint but then I saw a pint was very doable and served as my supper.

It was difficult choosing what kind to get because the Turkey Hill that I like best did not come in small containers. I ended up with some brand that started with an “H” that I never had before, but it was very good strawberry with actual strawberry chunks in it. I think anything would have tasted good on such a hot night. I was glad we were in the shade.

We brought along our spoons and lawn chairs and set up our chairs in a little circle at the side of the building where we chatted for about an hour and ate our ice cream. It was fun and no men were included—which was just as well because Gerard would rather watch the Red Sox game anyhow. We discussed a variety of topics including, family, camping, children, jobs, marriage, old people and of course, what flavor ice cream everyone had.

A little before 9 p.m., the sun looked like a big orange ball! I had to leave because I had my sunglasses on and if I stayed until dark, I would not be able to see to drive very well. Plus, unfortunately, I had to get up early for work the next day so wanted to get a good night’s sleep.

The temperature was in the 90s most of the day and even at 3 a.m., it was still 83 degrees outside. I checked to see if I could turn off our air conditioner, but left it on all night. It did make for better sleeping and the fireworks were finally over!

For me this is about as crazy as I get. What about you? What was the last time you did something a little crazy?

That sounds like a fun time. It's nice that they let you sit around like that: here they would call the police and have us removed.
90's at 3:00am...that is not fun. I can stand the heat, but I like it to cool off at night.

Yumm...ice cream...The only brand I know that starts with an "H" is Haagen DAz...I love Starbucks coffee ice cream !!!! Another good brand is Ben & Jerry's...because they have funky fun names for their ice cream...like their rainbow sherbet is called "Wavy Gravy"...and you get the idea ;) :) It's fun and tasty, too!!! Glad you had a fun time. Hugs, Heather :)

Can't say as that I've ever thought of having a get together in a parking lot but it looks like a really fun time! I don't remember the last time I did anything crazy - how sad is that? I need to add a little fun to life!

Tahtimbo: One of the ladies knows the store manager from high school and asked permission first. I like to be able to open the windows at night instead of using the A/C all night long. We really got a hot streak going in Cleveland right now! I'm loving it!!

April: Our next one is scheduled for Aug. 4 if you want to join us!

Heather: That is the brand, sounded like a German name to me. It was good.

Beaded Tail: Yup, everyone needs some fun in their life and something to break out of a rut. It does look like you have some interesting walks with Sadie though! I always enjoy the strolls on Sadie day.

The last time I did anything crazy was when I took my kids and their friends out to TP houses. Eons ago. Decades even.

I absolutely must copy your idea. Including the using of Facebook for the organizing of it!

Thanks for adding this to the Saturday Sampling. You've got my brain plotting and planning again!
