9 Things I Learned This Week-#76

Another Great Review For My Funny Dad, Harry

I found that Tim at Everyday Living read and wrote a nice review of my book on his blog. Be sure to head over there to read what he said about it at A Review of My Funny Dad, Harry. Thanks so much, Tim! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!

The Bachelorette's Blog

Gerard showed me Ali's blog on the people magazine site this week. She actually recaps the episode and shares some things we did not get to see and her thinking about the different guys. Plus, you can leave her a comment!

Dogs and Skunks

I learned from my free kibble trivia game this week that if your dog gets sprayed by a skunk, you should act quickly before the skunk oil dries (trim fur, shampoo...) is key. If not, you could have a smelly dog for months.

New Uplifting Channel

We discovered the GMC channel 328 on Direct TV this week. It has uplifting entertainment. We caught the end of what looked like a good movie, "Not My Son." Our favorite channels are Hallmark, Lifetime, Animal Planet, Turner Classic Movies, ESPN, NESN (sports network).

Toads

From Daisy The Curly Cat this week, I learned that some toads are poisonous and they eat worms. I always thought they just ate flies. I knew there are poisonous pretty little frogs and snakes but did not know about the toads.

Elephants Coming Back

According to the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER on Wednesday, The Cleveland Metropark Zoo is getting their three elephants back in May of 2011 from the Columbus zoo. The exhibit is going to be about four times bigger than the old one and there will be more than three elephants, including some male elephants (bulls), meerkats, African birds and rock pythons! We are looking forward to it!

Good News

Cat Rescued

At Sparkles blog today I saw that the nice friendly kitty whose time was about to run out in a Georgia high-kill shelter was rescued! YIPPEE!

Our Lawn Mower

Our lawn mower has been fixed and we get it back tomorrow! Gerard is very, very happy about that! He is tired of having to borrow from different neighbors all the time.

Test Results

Isn't it amazing how much doctors can find out just by testing a blood sample? Gerard learned he was "perfect" this week and I learned that I am NOT anemic--yay! I really didn't think I was because I feel I have plenty of stamina, but the doctor thought I looked pale. I told him it was because his office was like an ice box!

The story of Arizona's rescue made my whole day!

Here in south FL, lots of dogs and cats have become very, very ill from those crazy toads. I'm glad we are Inside kitties.

I've started your book, but I've been so busy with yacht club stuff that I've not gotten very far. I'll surprise you with a review one of these days.

Great news on the blood tests. That's what I wait for during my annual physical. I'm so glad that both of you came back with great blood work.

Have a terrific day and weekend. A very happy Independence Day too. :)

We were so happy that kitty in Georgia was saved and will go to a loving furever home now!

Those toads were pretty scary. That's great that the elephants are coming back too!

That's great that Ali of The Bachelorette has a blog. I may go check it out. That's been my guilty pleasure to watch on tv :) :) A good friend of mine from school and myself...we're emailing back and forth about what we think of each week's episode.

I'm glad you and hubby are doing well. That's great !!! Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

Helping save that kitty in Georgia made MY week too! In the end, so many wonderful humans stepped up to help. And although I'm sure the kitty had no idea how close she was to death, I'm also positive that she was extremely glad to be out of Animal Control!

Mr.4444 announced this week that he is "ready for another kitty!" We shall see...

Karen, you're not going to believe this, but I had a dream last night that I met you and Gerard, in your bedroom!,where there were separate beds. He jumped out of his and met me graciously. We visited for a bit but didn't want to wake you, because you were obviously having a wonderful dream; you were all smiles and "talking" to whoever was in your dream. How weird is that?!

Thanks for the link to Ali's blog. Have you read RealitySteve's spoilers? He's very entertaining.

I hope I never need that skunk tip!
