6 Things I Learned This Week-#73

A Book With No "e"

Kathy from the Junk Drawer shared about a novel, "Gadsby," written by Ernest Vincent Wright without using the letter "e." I find that amazing since "e" is the most used letter in the English alphabet! Here is the link to the post about it at The Writing Pages: "An Entire Novel Without The Letter 'e'."

Blogger Linking

By accident I discovered that in Blogger if you put a link in the box under your post title when writing your post, the Link Within posts are the ones on the other place that you linked to. When I found the inspiration for posting about my piano experience, I copied the link to a draft post until I was ready to write it and forgot to take it out. When it posted, the link within posts at the bottom were all from the blog I had linked to. When would you ever want to link your post title to something else?

TV--The Bachelorette

At www.abc.com under The Bachelorette is a tab for bachelor cheat sheet. You can actually print out a copy of all the bachelors with a little space for notes next to their pictures. It gives you their occupations and hometowns too! This was very helpful to me when I watched the first night they arrived. I can never keep them all straight.

Stripes In Grass

Do you know how the baseball parks have such nice cut grass in stripes? In the PLAIN DEALER this week the secret to how to get the stripes was revealed. There is actually a special device called a Lawn Stryper that can be attached to the back of a walk-behind mower. It can be purchased at patternyourlawn.com. Gerard said he doesn't want to spend $80 for one though because our yard is too small.

Pet Finder

I noticed the Pet Finder search widget at The Beaded Tail and just added it to my blogs. We used it to find our wonderful dog Abby. If you are thinking of possibly getting a pet, give it a try. You can search by pet, size, breed, zip code. So many nice pets need good homes. Ours have enriched our lives. For now it is in my left sidebar under the books we are currently reading.

"My Funny Dad, Harry" Giveaway

There is a giveaway of an autographed copy of my book ("My Funny Dad, Harry") at Red Pine Mountain if you would like to read it. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on the post about it at Red Pine Mountain.

We're watching The Bachelorette this season again, too! It looks like some crazy things are in store. I'm surprised she kept that guy with the overly-styled hair.

This was so fun to read. Love baseball, love the lawns, so I read that segment to my husband sitting next to me. He said "plain dealer" about three times, I said "these people are from Ohio," "Awww!" He remembers all kinds of random stuff.

Thanks for stopping by my Friday post.

I wonder how Ally remembers the guys names. Like is there a teleprompter or a mic in her ear or what?

Take care!

Oh I forgot to say that on your profile I read that you love Torey Hayden's books, I can't wait to read more of them this summer. I just finished "One Child" and I was moved to my core.

I can't imagine someone's lawn mowed like a baseball field - that made me chuckle!

Thanks for mentioning me and the Petfinder widget! I hope people use it and give wonderful animals a furever home!

I totally want a baseball field back yard! I didn't know there was a special attachment, really. I thought it was just a really good mower, unlike the one I have. I like to do the diagonal stripes in my back yard. Totally cool.

I can't imagine writing a book without the letter e.

As to linking. I'm just learning Wordpress and while I like it, I haven't figured out all the secrets like I had with blogger and sometimes I miss those bells and whistles.
